HURTING

Tuesday, April 12th, 2011

I know that I am not the only person that goes to work pain-free and before the first break, pain abounds.

Today I restocked my OTC minerals and vitamins, I am hoping that my next shift at work my body will notice that something is different and there will be no pain or much less.

I should not complain —-I do have a job.  However it is still very uncomfortable to be hurting 5 hours after I get off.  I have taken a pain reliever but so far it has done no good.

OK, OK, I will just suck up and deal.

2MORROW

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

2morrow, I will have a full day in the pharmacy.  The work I will enjoy more than cashiering but the long hours will not be good.  I usually work 4.5 hours once a week.  By the time I get home my feet and legs will be hurting and will hurt for several hours after I get off of them.

So is life, at least I have a part time job.

JOBS

Saturday, January 8th, 2011

I guess it is time for me to look for another job.  I have not worked at K-Mart since two weeks before Christmas.  I depended on what I made there to buy my gas and pay the water bill and go out to eat once every other week.

The question is where in the world, at the age of 63 almost 64, do I began to look.  Even tho some do not believe this, I do have physical limitations.  This presents another problem with employment.

Wish me well!

AGAIN

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

The company that I work with has changed uniforms or as they call it dress code.  Employees have until November to get the new colored shirt.  For a few years we have been allowed to wear white or red shirts, now they are changing to blue.  Thank goodness they are not changing from the black pants or skirts, however we can no longer wear capris.  Seems they should be more interested in the fit of the pants rather than out ruling the capri length.

I have been with this company almost 13 years and still do not make $10. an hour and this is before taxes.  I know there are people in my store making minimum wage and the shirts if ordered thru personnel are $9. each.

Question is:  Do those making this decision give a rip roaring hoot about their employees?  NO, because if they did, they would either furnish the uniforms or make sure the employees were paid better wages.

I am so glad that since retirement, I only work one day a week–thus–I will only need one shirt.

MOWING the YARD

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

This is a job that I only did 1 time in almost 34 years, and did not finish it then. I now have to do it every week or every 10 days, depending on the weather. It is not an easy job.!!!  As hot as I get, I may need to check into some insurance such as Blue Cross Blue Shield North Carolina for heat exhaustion coverage.

I supposedly have a self-propelled mower but it is myself that is propelling the mower because the drive will not engage. This means that I am using a motorized push mower to mow the yard. I guess that is a little better than using the old, old type that did not even have a motor, at least, the motor turns the cutting blades.  This mower is very hard for me to crank but after 3-7 times pulling the crank cord, it will crank.  I have to brace the mower against something so that it will not roll when I pull the crank cord and use both hands to pull the cord.

On Friday, July 16, when my husband was telling me he was going to leave me, he said that he could not sleep and could not eat.  I really hope he can eat and sleep now, knowing that he took the RIDING mower and left me the push mower. He does need his rest because of the type of work he does.

Life is not easy now (it wasn’t easy before he left–just some things I did NOT have to do or worry about getting done) nor do I expect it to be.  I will learn to be independent and will be better for it.

God is for me so what does it matter who is against me!!

This is just a valley I must go through before going back up the mountain.

HAPPENINGS

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

Not much happening around here except the past 2 weeks have been very, very, VERY cold.  Even day time temps have rarely made it into the 40′s.  It is not even 40 now, only 37 according to the computer.

I did something Monday I did not think I could do.  I worked 8 1/2 hours.  DD#1 was taking care of several sick children so I worked for her.  The pharmacy tech had called in sick and the poor pharmacist had prescriptions coming our her ears (not really) so I stayed until 7 trying to help her catch up. I then worked 5 hours yesterday.

I also had to be on FaceBook and play my FarmVille game after I got home.

NOT LOOKING GOOD

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

I did just a little on our taxes last night.  Did not get to farm or rent income and State Tax is looking pretty bad.  Federal Tax is ok at this point but I wonder how it will be when the taxes are finished.  I sure hope we do not have to pay.  DH paid more Federal tax than I made. Oh well, I’ll just have to wait and see if I will be happy or a little upset.

If we get a sizeable refund, we will use it to make more changes in the house.  We really want to get the dining room and living room done also.

REPLACED

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

I think I may have been replaced by a new, better, and faster model.  DD#1 started working in the pharmacy Tuesday to be trained as a back-up.   We went in at 9, I had a doctor’s appointment and left about 10:45.  When I left she was working independently, pulling and counting the drugs to be dispensed, getting the drugs for the customers that had already been counted and checked by the pharmacist and using the cash register.  Of course, she still had ??, but was basically working on her own.   I have been working in the pharmacy a long time and I still have ??.

She was doing so well, that the pharmacist asked that she work today and Friday instead of the person that was scheduled.

Normally, she will not work 8 hour days, only4-5 hours, so she can still home-school.  Neither will she work every day, in fact, she is only scheduled 3 days next week, about 12-14 hours.  I am usually scheduled the first Saturday of the month, but she is.  That is fine with me.

Now I need to get up and do more in the dungeon.  Soon, Soon, it will be done!!

WHAT a DAY

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

I did work today and it was a day not to be soon forgotten. The pharmacist was quite elderly and works in several gears slower than my slowest. We really were not that busy, but it seemed as if we were. A lady called about 12 checking on a prescription and he did not even start working on it until after 2.

Give credit where credit is due. He was very thorough and made sure that everything was done by the book. Everything always is, but it was just interesting to see that it was done step by step not 2 or 3 things at once.

Another day another penny.

DRAGGING FEET

Friday, February 20th, 2009

Have you ever heard or used that expression?  A part-time replacement for the pharmacy tech is needed.  She goes on vacation Monday.  Has anyone been hired?  Yes and No.   Interview was done on the 9th, person was hired contingent on background check.  Very few firms are hiring, background check should be done fairly fast.  Person may be called in today to do paperwork.  Yes, someone has been dragging their feet getting this position filled.  Vacation was scheduled the first part of January.

I am scheduled to work Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.  I only count medication and work the registar.  I can do none of the computer detail that the pharmacy tech does.  I have a doctor’s appointment on Tuesday—Yes, I am keeping my appointment.

In addition to not being computer helpful, standing for 3 days, 8 hours per day will be painful for me.
