A few nights ago, I was awakened by the close loud booms of thunder and heavy rain. Today the thunder is booming and heavy rain is falling. The falling rain sounds so peaceful. It has been raining about 2 hours. Love the rain but sure am glad I am not driving in it. DD has probably gotten wet as she walks from class to class.
The yard needed to be mowed before this rain, I will not be able to put it off much longer!
While the rain is still falling, I think I will take a nap.
It rained most of Monday and most of today. If April showers bring May flowers, what do March showers bring?
My own idea is water for the weeds to grow and maybe the grass a little. At this time my yard looks like it has many more weeds than grass.
When the wind settles, I need to spray around the house, flower beds, and fence with “Round-Up”. I may even spray in the ditch. This will really help with the mowing. I have never used a weed-eater but there is always a first time for everything.
I do hope this post does not make one think I am complaining, I am not. When I think the weather may be too cold, too wet, too dry or too hot–I am thankful the conditions are no worse than they are and also thankful that I am not in control.
Is it rain, sleet or snow??? When I was at the door letting my grand-angels come in, I thought I saw all three. It has rained all night and all day. Sleet was a possibility this afternoon.
My dog stayed in almost all day, finally about 4, he decided he did need to go out. I do not know which dislikes the rain more, Bullet or my SIL, Jessie.
I do not like either but am very thankful that God controls these factors. In my area, I think ice and snow are very dangerous because people do know how to drive in these conditions. In truth, they do not know how to drive in the rain either, speeding along as if the sun were shining brightly.
We have already had one sprinkling of snow and now may get another one Monday. Chance of snow is 90%. Snow coming from the south is not good! If we get snow, I will hibernate. I best get some milk and other items tomorrow. I guess if the electricity goes off, I will have a major problem—lots of cover on the bed and snuggle in with a pillow.
I do believe the Fall Season is upon us. The nights have dropped about 10 degrees in maybe 2 weeks and the day temps have also dropped. Today a wind blew almost all day putting a chill in the air. Not enough chill for a jacket but a definite difference could be felt in the temperature that we had Monday or Tuesday.
My favorite season is Spring. Not too hot, not too cold and new growth abounds in the flowers and trees. The only bad growth is that of the weeds and grass.
I like Summer but do not do well in the heat. For some reason, I do not know why, my body tends to swell in the summer, especially my hands and feet.
Winter is my least favorite season. I just do not like to be cold. I stay in as much as possible during the winter months.
I am so glad that I do not control the weather for a mess of it, I am sure, I would make.
The rain stopped sometime last night. The ground is quite soggy and water is still standing in places. I cannot get to the shed to check on the damage, if any, in there because water is still too deep at the entrance.
Yesterday when I had to go to town to get my meds, I carried a towel and my shoes in my hand because water was standing in the path to the car. The rain was coming down quite heavy on my way home.
Weather channel says it may rain again Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Hopefully it will be light and not like we had this week. I am NOT in charge and will not question how God does the weather.
It has been a long time since we have had any rain here. We did not even have rain during ‘dog days’ like we usually do.
It has rained 12 inches in 26 hours and 40 minutes. That is some rain coming down. At times there has been no rain and then rain has come in different ranges–sprinkle, drizzle, good rain, down pour and torrents, almost as if sheets of rain.
I hope everyone that has to travel has safe traveling and if you do not have to go out, use your brain and stay in.
Wow! what a thunderstorm we had this afternoon. Close lightening, loud thunder and rain falling heavy. At times the rain looked as if it was falling in sheets rather than drops. In about an hour and a half, it rained 4 1/2 inches. Water was standing in the ditches and even under the carport. The ground could not soak up the rain, it came down so fast and so heavy.
DD and her friend were here working on my computer and I had taken the baby girls to the optometrist in exchange for the favor. When it would thunder really loud, they would say a giant was taking steps. I have no idea where they heard that. They are both afraid of the storms and that seemed to calm them.
Not much happening around here except the past 2 weeks have been very, very, VERY cold. Even day time temps have rarely made it into the 40′s. It is not even 40 now, only 37 according to the computer.
I did something Monday I did not think I could do. I worked 8 1/2 hours. DD#1 was taking care of several sick children so I worked for her. The pharmacy tech had called in sick and the poor pharmacist had prescriptions coming our her ears (not really) so I stayed until 7 trying to help her catch up. I then worked 5 hours yesterday.
I also had to be on FaceBook and play my FarmVille game after I got home.
We have really not had any damage at our place from Ida and I am thankful. Several places 30 or so miles away have flooded and roads had to be closed. Some schools were on 2-hour delays this morning. A school in a neighboring western state opened and then sent the children home an hour or so later. I wonder if they used a mass notification system to alert the parents that their children were on the way home.
We have gotten about 6 1/2 inches of rain and it is still misting.
Bullet (my dog) doesn’t like to be out in the rain and stayed in almost all day yesterday and did not want to go out early this morning but was ready a few minutes ago. When I walked in the wash room, he stood up in his crate, I opened the doors and out he went. I’ll check in a few minutes to see if he wants to come back in. His life is easy–outside in the daytime, inside at night and during bad weather.
