I have not slept well for years, the past month has been unreal!  I have meds but they sometimes make me feel sluggish the next day.  I may as well be sluggish from lack of sleep as I had the meds.

Last Sunday, Monday and Tuesday was the worst ever.  I only slept about 6.5 hours in 59.  I also had to work with the public on Tuesday.  Not a good day.  I slept ok Tuesday night, but last night was another killer.  I slept about 2 hours.

My brother told me to get rid of my guilty conscience and I could sleep.  If that was the reason keeping me awake, I could sleep.

The doc is aware of my sleeping problems, so I guess I will just have to learn to deal with them.  I know it is affecting my overall health, but what is a body to do?

Someone told me to practice sleeping.  lol  Wish I could.

I had a medical procedure done today, an EDG.  The worst parts were traffic going into town and not remembering all that happened after I was supposedly awake and mobile.

Dr. did find that I have an “Erythema in the antrum”.  I have no idea what that is but he did send a biopsy to the pathologist.  Also, that I have a small hiatal hernia, but I already knew this.  Doc prescribed ‘Protonix’.

After I was finished at the Gastroenterologist office, he sent me to have a CT Scan, checking for any pancreaticobilliary abnormalities.

So now I get to play the wait and see game.  I am sure everyone is familiar with that.

I have dieted several times in my life and only once did I take something that would curb my appetite.  It took me about 18 months to lose 30 pounds.  This weight stayed off until I quit smoking.

I wonder which diet pills are the best, but have been medically advised not to use an appetite suppressant because my thyroid gland has been removed.  I  probably should just increase my will power and be more careful about what I eat, thus insuring that I would be more healthy and loose weight at the same time.

I spent a bigger part of this afternoon preparing my medical ledger sheets.  What do I mean by this?  Simple, I have quite a few medical bills that I am trying to get paid off and it is easier for me to keep the charges, insurance payments, the amount I pay, and the balance on ledger sheets.  This is a yearly project I began and have done each year since my thyroid surgery, got a slow start this year.

Each medical facility has their own sheet and tabbed section in a 2″ binder.  I also keep each statement and the bill  I get with each office visit in the correct section.  These ledger sheets tell me at a glance how much I owe each facility and also makes doing the taxes much easier.

None–after 3 visits to the doctor in 7 days, I know no more now than I did before I went.  That is discouraging and expensive.  I am afraid the expense has just begun, as they will continue testing until they find the cause of my pain.  Some think I am a pain regardless of why, but being a pain and having pain is really not the same.

Hopefully, after the EGD is done on the 10th, there will be an answer–good, bad, or indifferent, I am ready to know something.

I did not sleep at all last night.  Awake all night long and had no nap yesterday.

I went to the doctor this morning and got home about 1:30 this afternoon.  I started getting sleepy, decided that I would lie down for a little while.  During the 2 hours that I tried to nap, the phone rang twice.  No rest for the weary!!

Hopefully, I will be able to sleep tonight.  I sure hope that I can.  I have not slept well for a few years but it is really bad now.  Lack of sleep and rest may be the reason that I have no energy.

I have read that not enough rest, especially in women, will make one gain weight.  I wonder if I can use that excuse.  I think part of my weight gain is medical, but also part of it is bending the elbow too much and eating things that I should not and not enough exercise.

I had an appointment this morning with a PA.  That is very unusual for me.  I prefer to see the MD.

This PA was so thorough with me when I had my first episode of vertigo.  She just took her time and made me feel very comfortable.  I have been having minor problems of late, not being sure who I needed to see, I decided that I would go to her first and see what the game plan would be.  I am thinking that in the future she will be my primary, my gyn, and my endocrinologist.

Why would I drop my specialist and see a PA?  She explained more about my thyroid meds in 5 minutes than he has in 3 years.

I have been dizzy (not even a blonde) for about 5 days–no inner ear infection so she said it could be my thyroid levels or an UTI.  She is testing both.

I was so dizzy that I ruined my daughter’s day, because I was afraid to drive on US17 and then into town to get my meds.

I must go back in a month for follow up.  If I have anymore nights that I cannot sleep at all, I will tell her and maybe she will advise warm milk or she may even tell me to play FarmVille all night.

My eyes are usually swollen in the mornings, some mornings worse than others.  However, this morning was somewhat different.

I could feel a definite difference in the swelling of the right eye and the left eye.  The left eye was swollen almost to the point of being closed.  When I did get up and look in the mirror and exam the left eye very closely, I could see that something had either bitten me or stung me while I sleep.

In a couple of hours, I should be sleeping again and it is still very swollen.  Hopefully, I will not have a repeat of last night and my right eye and left eye will match in looks Wednesday morning.

WOW!!  I had a fairly busy day.  Worked in the house some after putting the trash and recycle stuff out for pick-up.  Watched as DD tried to fix my computer, my watching did not help at all.

After lunch is when I got busy.  I had an appointment at 2:30 for a hair cut.  Fine, all goes well there.

I am within 2 miles of home and my cell phone rings and it is the doctor’s office asking me if I can come in to the office today.   I turn around and go back to town to their office.  Enough said for now about the call and the office visit.

While in town, my friend calls and asks if I can do such and such.  This is done and finally I am on my way home once again.

I come home, get my checkbook and go to my daughter’s house to use her computer to balance it with what the bank says.  My computer is not secure right now.

After this is done, I then must go to Castle Hayne.  I have checked the mileage but do not remember now how far it is from my house.

I get home about 9:30, hang a new room darkening shade, iron and hang energy saving drapes, iron and hang valances (on the rod that I put up all by myself, another first) that match an old spread now on my bed.

I may be a little tired from all the back and forth and some stress but that is ok because tomorrow is another day.

Had an appointment today with the surgeon that did my thyroid surgery.  Finally the tissue that has been choking me is shrinking.  I knew that it was because, after all, I do know my body.  The choking sensation that I have is getting less frequent.  I do not go back for another year and I am so glad.  Today’s visit was $340.

After the throat exam and discussion of the ultra sound, I asked about my broken toe.  He said there was nothing more that could be done than what I was doing and that is taping it to the toe beside it to keep it stable.  This will need to be done at least 4 weeks, maybe longer.
