SEWING

I can sew, not very well, but I could if I were to start with simple items and learn by doing.   Before I can start with simple items, I need to take my machine to the shop.  The material will not feed and just gets all rumpled and the thread gets in a mess.

I have a sister friend that sews quite well, so she is making valances for me to put in the bedroom.  (I could do this if my machine was working properly)  I brought 2 of them home with me last night and hung them.  Today she came over and we decided they needed to be about 1 1/2 inches shorter, so back to her house they did go.

She will take them up from the bottom, putting more weight on the very bottom of them, making them hang better.

I will be so glad when the bedroom is finished.  I sure wish I could have new carpet installed.  That is so far from reality that it is a nightmare, not a dream.  Maybe, in a couple more weeks, it will be like I want it or as I want it with what I feel like I can afford.

GREAT JOB

I was desperate!  I was in need of a hair cut and having lo-lights put in my hair.  Not surprising, DD#2 came to the rescue.  As usual, she did a very good job and I am well pleased.  She cut my hair quite short and I do like it.  I also like the color.  What can I say except “she is good at what she does”.  I need to do something special for her because she will not let me pay her and she could possibly be working on a paying client when she is doing my hair.

She is planning to come one day next week and do more decorating for me.  I am ready to get all done that we can do.  The trim molding, faceboards, new sink and counter tops will have to be done by our husbands.

PROGRESS PROGRESS

I am beginning to see more progress in the changing and re-decorating.

DH put together the desk for me yesterday and it is now in its permanent spot.   Today, he moved the white pantry into the kitchen for me.   We went shopping for odds and ends and I finally found a paper towel holder.  It is not what I wanted but it will work and he put that up for me, after I put apple decals on the ends of it.
This pic shows we need to do some touch up painting.  Molding will go over the white line at the back of the cabinet.

The old microwave stand is in place and an unassembled pantry is in DH,s truck.  I can’t get 2 like I had planned because one would be about 2 inches over the heat duct.  Maybe I can find one that only has one door instead of two, fitting into the available space.  I have too much stuff!!!!  I have filled the bottom of the old microwave stand with items that are rarely used.  The white pantry has an area for the microwave.  The bottom of the white pantry has staples and items often used, as well as the lids to my corning cookware.

Hopefully, I can soon say I am thru in the freezer room and the dungeon.

I am tired.  I need to get up in the am and go to church.

ANOTHER ROAD TRIP

Talked with Terminix yesterday and because the pest control contract at Mother’s is now in my name, I must be present for the first new contract visit.  I tried to get permission to allow the tenant to sign the paperwork, but ‘no’, I have to be there in person when the actual work is done.  I do not know how long it will take them to do whatever, it will be 2 hours travel time for me but will not necessite any additional travel insurance.  This will really mess up a good day.

To make a not good situation into a better one, I will just travel over to the nearby town and get more apple “stuff” for my kitchen.  I may even visit a classmate or a cousin.

FAILURE

I am too dependant!!!  I have all of the pieces out of the box for the desk, but cannot wrap my mind around how to put it together.  I was sure that I would be able to assemble the hutch, but oh no! not at this point.  I can’t make heads or tails of how to go about it.  Maybe I’ll just start looking at the J12 watch and forget all about putting that desk together until someone with more experience than I have can do it for me.

EVIDENCE

There is visible evidence that progress is being made in the freezer room.

The one pantry that we have, has been moved to the corner which will be its new home.  The potato bin is in place and a spot for the old mircowave stand has been determined.  All I need to do now is move the other furniture, buy 2 pantries, use them instead of the hard plastic shelving that is now in place.

Confession is that the only thing on top of the freezer is part of the new desk and the rest of the desk is still in its box. I need to give up my dependance and put the desk together, but I am not sure that I can.  I may bite the bullet and try to do some of it this afternoon.

I am ready for my actual eye to see what my brain’s eye sees.

GOOD NEWS

DD#1 came over after she got off work yesterday and finished the taxes for us.  I did not know how to make the business deductions and my IRA gave us both fits.  Just as my brother answered his phone (called him for help), she had it figured out.

An e-mail from headquarters says it is possible to have our federal deposited by April 10.  That will be great and help finance the decorating, re-doing, and remodeling that we are trying to get done.

If DH does not get the roof on the the shed repaired soon, we will have a big mess.  It needs a new roof really bad.  Maybe, we can even get that done.

SLOW TODAY

I did not get much accomplished today.  I did 2 loads of laundry completely, and watched the baby girls from about 10:30 til 5.  We had a simple lunch today, peanut butter sandwich and I can’t remember what else.

I have cleared a little space from the freezer top.  Maybe tomorrow will be more productive.   I really need that extra pantry for storage.   I may have to get it tomorrow.  Time will tell.  I think if I had it, I could finish the freezer room in a very short time.   Possibly go thru all the junk and still be finished in a day.

GETTING CLOSER

I am slowly getting closer to the day that I will move my desk and computer into the freezer room. I am planning to make a few changes. I have a larger desk on layaway. It is almost mine–owe less than $10.  It is just a few inches longer than the one I have but has more storage space in the hutch area. I am hoping the extra storage space will allow me to get rid of one small bookshelf. When the computer is moved, I do know that I will not be getting a KVM switch.  Who knows what will happen in the future?

All of this re-arranging is involved with my re-decorating.

MAKING PROGRESS

I am making progress in the dungeon–not that I am clearing much out of it, but am moving the furniture in that I want to be in that room.  Today the other video cabinet,  the videos put back in alphabetically and the sewing cabinet were put in there.  DD#1 practically picked up the sewing cabinet by herself.  The sewing cabinet is not exactly where I want it but that will be an easy feat.  I am still taking stuff out of that room, either to people I know, Good Will, or the trash.

Now to what is referred to as the freezer room (where the above stuff was), it looks like a cyclone has been thru it.  I can’t get in the chest type freezer, the top is so loaded with junk that was on the sewing cabinet or stacked under it.   That is ok as long as I feel like I am making progress and I am.

Tomorrow, I need to get a big trash can and put it close to the freezer and just start going thru stuff.  There is a lot of what is now trash and I already have seen some items that will go to Good Will.

I want to get another pantry to go in the freezer room.  Hopefully, I will soon move the computer in the freezer room which will enlarge the dining room about 2 1/2 feet.
