I enjoy crocheting, even the simplest of patterns.  I always have a sense of accomplishment when I finish a project.  I also get frustrated when the yarn I have chosen does not look good in the pattern I have chosen.

Example:  A co worker’s grandson was a year old in September.  I have tried for over a year (sporadically) to find a pattern that looked good in the chosen yarn–no luck.  I probably started 5 or 6 patterns and none of them did I like.  This was very frustrating!   I would crochet and pull out, crochet and pull out.  Finally, I just stopped for a while.

I recently saw a pattern on the computer that I really like.  The pattern looked simple (which I like) and the pattern was pretty.  It is a repetition of the same stitch over and over but still pretty.  I contacted the person, asking where they got the pattern.  She told me she had designed the pattern herself, I have done this twice and personally, I thought the afghans I designed were quite pretty.  (don’t know what I did with the patterns)

Anyway, we agreed on a price for her pattern.  I changed the pattern very little( really only added stitches to make it a little larger) and am enjoying making the blanket for this little fellow using different yarn.  Hopefully, I will have it finished about the time he starts college.

I have made all the grandchildren (even the 2 that probably no longer claim me) except the oldest and 2 youngest afghans.  I have started one for the knee-baby, a pattern I designed.  It has been so long since I worked on it, I will probably have to decipher the work I have done so that I will know where to start again.

Think I will get off this computer and crochet on the baby blanket!!

DaBaby will be 4 Saturday and does she ever love eggs. I know her age and what she likes to eat are not related subjects.

Friday she asked for a fried egg.  By asking her questions, I determined that she wanted it over easy or maybe over-medium.  She ate one for breakfast, one for lunch and one for snack.

Today starts out a little different.  She came at 8:45 and by 10:45 she had eaten 3 eggs.  She asked that she have 2 for breakfast, which she readily ate.  mind you, this is nothing but the egg-no bread or grits or hash browns or rice.  Just a bare runny yolk egg.  Shortly after she ate, not more than 10 minutes, she ate 2 candy hearts and a very small bag of roasted peanuts and asked for more junk foods.  I said “no more junk, would you like another egg” and she said “YES” and ate it.

I need to do some research on the egg and see if it still poses the health hazard it did some years ago.  At least she is getting in some good protein.

BatMan likes eggs cooked this way, also.  SpideyMan does not like eggs.  I know of several people that eat ketchup with their eggs, I think I will ask him if he would like to try it.

Going to check FB home page and my farm in the FarmVille game, then I am going to work some on that crochet pattern I am trying to design.

I have found  a picture illustrating the size of a crocheted piece using the same stitches but different size thread and different size crochet hooks.  I think this would make a great dishcloth.  Only problem is I have to do a swatch which will help in determining the number of rows and the number of stitches in each row to get the size I want the dishcloth.   My brain will get more exercise than my body would if I were using a dip bar.

I hope that this project does not end up being a lot of wasted time and even more frustration.  This project also means that I will not spend as much time playing on my farm in FarmVille.

If I am successful, I will post a picture of the dishcloth when I am finished and that could be anywhere from one month to 12.

I started this crocheted dish towel while waiting in the Myrtle Beach airport on October 14.  One might say that I am a slow stitcher, do other things and just stitch occasionally or make errors and have to rip out several rows and do them again.  All of the above are true.

I changed the pattern, which I am known to do at times, I like my way better.  The pattern called for all single crochet, I would not be finished by New Year’s if I had followed the pattern.

I did make an error that I did not rip out, I made the towel about 3 inches too long, I guess that is better than being too short. The color on the cotton thread I used just says “YELLOW”, it is a bright pretty yellow that does not show in the picture to be as pretty s it really is.  I need a yellow button but could not find any that would work.

Below is a close up of the stitches for those who crochet.  All is double crochet thru front or back loop until it is about 17 inches long then single crochet for about 4 or 5 inches and single crochet all around.

If you would like more detail or to purchase one that I make, leave a comment or email me.

I really must get busy crocheting.  I am planning crocheted kitchen towels as Christmas gifts to some of the folks at work.  I only have about 7 weeks to make 3 sets.  I would like to give more, I will have to spend less time on FaceBook playing FarmVille and more time crocheting to get them made.

It would also help my progress if I did not make mistakes and have to rip out 8 or 10 rows at one time.

Have a good day, gonna check my farm one more time, then start stitching.

is a craft and hobby that I enjoy if I am in the mood.  Recently, I have picked up the needle and yarn again.  I am hoping to make some Christmas gifts for a few of my friends.  If I succeed with this plan, I need to spend less time on the computer and more with the craft.

I usually take the current project when DH and I go anywhere.  We did about 2 hour round trips for three days this week and I took it with me and made quite a bit of progress,  I thought. Just before we got back into Wilmington, on the way home yesterday, I was beginning the finishing stitches and noticed that I had made a mistake about 8 rows back, so much for the progress. This type mistake was too evident to leave and continue on, so the ripping out of stitches began.

I really need to work on it some today and plan to do just that in a few more minutes, after I fold a load of laundry.

I have done a few rounds on the beaded toboggan, but not enough to show well in a pic.  I am too tired to even get a photo of it tonite.  The stress is grueling with-in itself and I am just not use to the added responsibility of 5 extra people, especially when the oldest is 13 and the youngest 3 next month.  The 13 year old is a God-send in this situation.

Depending on how the week goes, maybe I will have enough to show next Friday.

I need to do more beading but I want to set up a small area in the back bedroom for that.

OOPS! I almost missed the first post of 2009.   I am a day late but I guess that is better than not at all.  Below is a pic of a toboggan that I am making for DD#1.  It is finished except for the 1 1/2 inch band that needs to go around it.  As slow as I stitch, that will take me a few hours.

Join the fun over at cassknits every Friday.  Show us what your busy little fingers have made.

CRAFT CLUB 12-26-08

Oh my! Oh My!  I have been so busy the past week, I have done no crafts.  That means I did not make any jewelry but I did sell a custom order to my SIL’s husband for one of her Christmas gifts.  I have not crocheted the first stitch either.

Honestly, I had even forgotten that it was Friday until I saw the post over at cassknits.  This week has flown by and I am still not ready for tomorrow.

Hopefully I will have something to show next Friday.  I still have 2 WIP plus a project bouncing around in my head.

If you have a craft to share, visit here and leave your link.

CRAFT CLUB 11-21-08

Since my last post on 11-07-08, I have been a very busy beader.  I have made a total of 26 pieces.  Also, I have custom orders to make 4 necklaces.  I am going by an optometrist office Monday morning with some of the lanyards I have made and want to get more made before I go.
Some of the lanyards are custom orders

I still crochet–below is a hat that DD#2 asked me to make for her.  I have been working on it off and on about a month.  As you can see, it has been mostly off.  I should have it finished soon.

I know that some of you are crafty because I read about what some of you have done. Share your craftiness with us here.
