Ladies of the ‘silver’ age, have you ever noticed that when you are really sick or your body has been shocked by some major ordeal, that you do not have hot flashes. This just popped into my thoughts the other day as I was having one, and I said I’m gonna blog about that.

When I had my surgery back in July, several days went by that I did not have a hot flash. (This is the lady that has had as many as 9 in eight hours.) The other Friday when I was so very sick with vertigo, I did not have one for 3 or 4 days.

This is just another way that God blesses me when I am so unworthy.

I have written a post for the ‘Carnival of the Redeemed‘ that includes the scripture verse Rev.21:4 and it was the verse of promise on my sidebar yesterday.   I just think it is neat or odd or a blessing or a verse that I should really delve into not knowing what the future is for my mom. Well, I don’t know any of the future except that when i die I will go to heaven. I have plans for the future but am not promised tomorrow.

About ten years ago, my secret pal at church gave me a Precious Moment’s window. That started it!! I have been collecting Precious Moments ever since. I collect them because they look so precious. :)

I have received several figurines from my DH and daughters. These pieces are especially important to me because they have a story to tell.

My brother’s death in 1993 was caused by cancer. I had a very hard time dealing with his death then and even now sometimes it it very rough. Shortly after he died I purchased the figurine ‘No Tears Past the Gate’. A phrase in the hymn “What a Day that Will Be” is no more tears to dim the eye. Every time I look at this figurine, I think about my brother and also Rev. 21:4.

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

I have found detailed information about the history of Precious Moments at I knew some of the history but not this much detail. I was pleased with what I found and may possibly use them to order some of the most precious pieces of my collectible.

Do you have a collectible and if so what?

If you would like to participate in this carnival, write your post and submit it here or click on the widget in my sidebar.

As the hymn goes “Count your many blessings , name them one by one”. I have too many blessing to name them all, even blessed in ways that I don’t even think about.I will list just a few:

  1. Christ died for me-Even if I had been the only one, Christ loved me enough to die just for me.
  2. I have a wonderful husband that loves and spoils me.
  3. A daughter that is only a phone call away.
  4. Several grandchildren that are always glad to see me and all 10 of them are healthy.
  5. A supportive family including the in-laws.
  6. True Friends
  7. Had the advantage of being reared in a Christian home.
  8. Live in a country where I can openly speak of my Savior and go to worship where I so chose.
  9. A church family that I can also depend on
  10. Both of my parents lived until after my 42nd birthday.
  11. I have a home, a job and plenty of food to eat.

Like I said these are just a few, as I continue to type my mind is still thinking of others.

I called my friend this afternoon and asked if I could use her place to do Mother’s laundry tomorrow. She said of course and her DH in the background said turn the heat up.

After she heard my voice and found out nothing was wrong except my being sick and before she knew why I had called, she asked did I want her to go check on Mother for me.

DD says that some kin are family and others just relatives. I have decided some folks are really friends and others are just acquaintances.

A fellow blogger, Angie, had this quiz over on her site. Just for curiosity sake, I took the test. I am ashamed that I am not in the WORD more. My score in no way indicates that I am a Bible scholar or that I am well-read. I have been in church over 40 of my 60 years. Neither does this score guarantee me a place in heaven. My guarantee is the fact I believe in Jesus Christ and my faith tells me his blood has washed away my sins to be seen no more by my judge, God.

You know the Bible 100%!

Wow! You are awesome! You are a true Biblical scholar, not just a hearer but a personal reader! The books, the characters, the events, the verses – you know it all! You are fantastic!

Not hundreds, only dollars, but money is money. The other day at work I had a bag of M&M’s in my pants pocket and also some change and a five dollar bill. The lay-a-way department was not busy, so it was my job to put merchandise back on the shelves that customers had decided for one reason or another they did not want. Breaking the rules, I was eating on the snack in my pocket. About an hour or so later, after I had thrown away the candy bag, I put my hand in my pocket and only felt the change. ‘ “Lord have mercy”, I can’t afford to lose that money,’ I think to myself. I hurriedly retrace my steps, but the money is not on the 2 aisles that I think it would be. As I start back to the front of the store very disappointed, I glance over to a big open aisle (maybe 8 feet across) that I had evidently gone down and there lays my money, still folded. “Thank you, Lord.”
