BLOG your BLESSING

Blessings come in so many different ways and forms.

Family to spend days with, doing nothing special, just being together.  Or maybe we only have a few minutes or a couple of hours.  Memories of importance can be made in this time.

A smile from a stranger on a bad day or a phone call from a friend just to say “hi” on a good day.   A friendly, smiling cashier rather than one who does not even make eye contact.

Weather that you like or that you do not.  It takes it all blended together.  If we do not like the heat then we consider the cold a blessing or vice versa.  Sunshine before the rain and the rainbow after the rain.

Jobs that we like or ones that we do not because that is all we’ve done and think we are too old to change.  Ones that give us a feeling of satisfaction when completed, as we stand back and look at what we have done.  Jobs that the sole purpose is to help others.  Or when the days of reporting to our job are over, we can enjoy retirement.

Enjoy your week of blessings.  We all have them, tho sometimes we cannot see the sun because of the clouds that are sometimes upon us at any given moment.

BLOG your BLESSING

My blessing this week is selfish.  I am thankful and blessed to live close to my daughters.  Both of them are a treasure to me.

DD#2 lives about 40 miles away.  I do not spend as much time with her as I would like but she is a very good cosmetologists and stays quite busy.  When we are together, we always enjoy ourselves.  Maybe one day, we can go shopping together.

DD#1 lives about a mile away and I see her several times a week.  Since I am only working 1 day a week, if she needs a baby sitter, I am it, if DGD#2 doesn’t watch over the younger children.   If there is any type of emergency DD#1 calls me to help solve it, or keep the children.

God watches over His own in His way.  Sometimes we may ??? what or why, but in His time, all will be well if we obey.

BLOG your BLESSING 1-4-09

This blessing is one that I am so very thankful to have.

My 9 yo grandson (looks about 7) ran away from home yesterday.  He was coming to my house.  This little fellow has an unreal temper and the older children antagonize him until he just gets so angry.  Unfortunately his anger is all his fault, never mind that he is pushed to his limit, whether it be by aggravation or teasing, note the other children have no fault in his becoming angry. (Sarcasm intended.)

I am so thankful that a very nice lady saw him, realized the danger he was in, picked him up and took him to my house.  I was working.   He told her where I worked, she called me and said that she would keep him with her until I could get to her house.

I am ever so thankful that someone who cared about a child walking by himself, picked him up rather than one of the perverts that live in our area.

DD had gone off with her dad.

The part that really makes me angry is that he told some of his family that he was coming to my house—NO ONE even called to make sure he had arrived safely.   That is not exercising tough love–to me it is saying ‘I don’t care.’

I was very careful not to let him know that I was upset with the entire situation that made him leave his house.  He did know that I was upset with him for doing so.   I did get him to promise me he would never run away again.

The family came over today for lunch and while here the GD that had helped antagonize him made comment if so and such happened, he may run away again and he said ‘no, I promised Grandi I would not run away anymore.’

Hope your yesterday was calmer than mine.  Wishing for all a very good week.

BLOG your BLESSING 12-28-08

Wow! Almost another year has past.  I have had so many blessings this year–some I have told you about and others I have not, because they were not to be discussed before the world.

I was hoping to tell you that DGS#1 had visited today, but due to mechanical problems, he could not come.  He did call to let us know that he would not be able to come and said that as soon as he got his vehicle repaired he would see us.

I had a most enjoyable family gathering yesterday with my daughters and their families.  Only DGS#1 and DGD#1 were missing.

It was so nice having almost everyone here.  The meal was prepared with time to spare.  Usually I am at my wits end when they get here because this or that has gone wrong.  Yesterday everything just fell into place at the right time.

I hope to share many more family gatherings with them as family is or should be the biggest or most important blessing that we have on this earth.

BLOG your BLESSING 12-21-08

First, apologies for missing so many Sundays.

Thankfully, I was not left stranded.  I noticed, as I left work Monday, some liquid around my car but did not think anything about it.  My car drove fine on the way home so I said ‘all is well’.  Tuesday DD#1 and I go to the mall that is across the river, to be there only a few minutes to exchange some jeans for the boys.  As we get just into town, my car acts really weird as if it is trying to cut off.  Well, as I get 16 blocks into town, it does cut off but cranks again with no problem.  OH NO!! all of the gauges are going off the scale.  It cuts off again about 25 blocks into town.  We are now only 5 blocks from the mall and Sears Automotive is in the mall.  I do make it to the automotive section.  One of the radiator hoses was split and 2 others badly damaged and the fluid was gone.

I am so thankful that I was not stranded on the road.  That is truly a blessing!

The few minutes that we were to spend in one store turned into about 3 hours that we walked and window shopped the entire mall.  Of course, a few of the windows enticed us to enter, so I made a few gift purchases.  More blessings,  I purchased a $45. hat and scarf combination for only $10., a $90. pair of shoes for only $25.  No need to waste an afternoon in the mall.

I am doing only one post today, there will be no Blog Your Blessing or Self Portrait Sunday.  I do not feel good at all—fever, runny nose, swollen tonsils, coughing, watering eyes, chills.  Hopefully I can beat this mess and not have to go the MD.

BLOG YOUR BLESSING 11-02-08

I read Sue’s entry stating she was just so tired of the negative campaign ads that are broadcast in Canada.  (not a direct quote)  I, too, am tired of them.  I do wish that in my lifetime there would be an election when one only heard the truth.  I know that it is not going to happen.

I hope the American people realize that while the economy is of great importance, there is one thing more important and that is freedom.  The elected leader has a huge responsibility to keep our nation free, will he??  I fear what our nation may become if the wrong leader is elected.  We as a nation have strayed far from what our nation was to be and even further from teachings in the Bible.  The sermon this morning was from Samuel and fit very well with what we as a nation are facing this election.

My blessing this week is that God is merciful.  Sometimes we do not see his mercy but it is there just the same.

BLOG your BLESSING 10-12-08

As I have stated before, I have blessings everyday.  Today, however was a very special blessing.

I have not heard DD#1 sing a solo in public in about 25 years.  Tonight I went to her church for what the Senior Adults called a talent show.  She sang “The Lord’s Prayer” acapella.  Several others sang, but they did not swell my heart as she did.  She definitely did not get her talent from my genes.

Let me say here that I have never liked to hear that prayer as a song.  When she sang it for me Thursday, she changed my mind!!  I could not believe the range that could be used to sing “The Lord’s Prayer”.  I could go on and on about how pretty I thought it was but may sound like a very prejudiced Mom.  I am very proud that she is using the talent God gave her to sing praises to him.  Many of the folks there told me how much they enjoyed her singing.  Even the pastor said “I knew she could sing but had no idea she could sing like that”.

Oh yes!  Indeed, that was my biggest blessing today.

DD#2 can also sing.  MIL has asked her to sing “Beulah Land” at her funeral.

BLOG your BLESSING 10-05-08

FAMILY!!! Immediate, siblings and their families, in-laws, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Neither DH or I have any living aunts or uncles, but we have very fond memories.

My dear Aunt Mary’s children have a family reunion the first Sunday in October. This year is the 11th anniversary of the reunion and the 5th that I have been invited to attend. From the time I leave, I am looking forward to the next year’s reunion. DD#1 now goes with me and she also anticipates the next one.

We have so much fun–good fellowship, seeing those that one only sees at this time, good food, talking about things we did as children. You know, just good to be with family and catch up on what has been happening.

There are 1 brother and 4 sisters surviving in this family. After everyone leaves usually by 3:30, the sisters, DD#1 and I drink coffee and continue to enjoy the company of each other.

DH’s family will have a reunion Thanksgiving week-end. This will include the cousins and their families on the paternal side. Again, I really have a good time and look forward to seeing them.

What can I say—–I just enjoy FAMILY. WHAT a BLESSING!!!
