I am not one to do exercise and when I do, it is usually not on a daily basis.  I started walking on May 3 and have only walked 11 days as of today. My first day I walked .6 miles and today I walked 3 miles.  My speed varies, but as someone said on the walking path the other day, “you are moving”.

My niece that is living in Hungary has made comments about using an elliptical.  I have no clue how long she has been using it nor how often.  With the many choices of  ellipticals available, I am sure that she chose the one that gives the best work out in order to achieve her goal.

To me the important thing is to do the exercise that you will be most consistent and the one that will keep you motivated to do it again tomorrow or the next day.

I told my brother that I did not walk the other day because the wind was strong and I get an earache so very easy in the wind.  We both decided that any excuse will do.   But a note in my favor,  I have gotten up before my normal time just to go walking.

What does this day mean to you?  Do you spend at least a few minutes thinking of those that have served and are serving in whatever capacity and whether during peace or war times?  Also, do you say a pray for those serving now to be safe and protected according to God’s will.

Memorial Day to many is just a day from work with pay or working with time and a half.

I have made no plans of celebration and that is all I am saying about what this day means to me.

I even smoked a cigar many years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter.  It was so long ago that smoking was not considered a health hazard for the baby.  I do not remember the brand or type but can assure you that it was not one of the arturo fuente cigars.   One of my dad’s neighbors’ cow had given birth and he was giving out cigars and I asked for one.

When I smoked, I thought most pipes and cigars smelled good.  Now, that I do NOT smoke, all burning tobacco products STINK.  Opinionated, right?  Yes, I am.

It is almost time for high school graduation and this means for some the “getting ready for college”.  College tuition is very high, even for state supported schools, and it seems to me the books needed would be included, but are not.  Many textbooks that you will need regardless of your classes and whether you are a freshman in college or pursuing your doctorate degree can break the bank.

I know someone that is wanting to take the pharmacy tech exam and the study book for that exam on line is between $70 and $90 dollars. Can you imagine what it would cost to take this course on a campus?

I started walking May 3rd, hoping that I will loose some of this blubber that I am carrying around with me.  If I loose the 30 pounds that I have set as my goal, I know I will feel better and I do not think I will have to change clothes sizes.

I am not walking very far.  The first day, I only walked .6 mile.  Since I have either walked 1.2 or 1.8 miles.  Time is pretty good for a beginner, shortest time for 1.2 miles is 22 minutes and 1.8 miles is 35 minutes.  I am hoping to one day soon walk around the park path 5 times and that will be 3 miles.

With a little research, I found that a short stride was better than a long stride.  Short strides burn as many if not more calories and are not prone to give shin splints.  I definitely do not need to injure myself.

I also have more energy the days I walk.  I am not saying I use the energy wisely, just have more.

Recently when I have been to the doctor my blood pressure has been a little high, tho they do not seemed to be concerned, I am, and am sure if I loose some blubber the B/P will come down.

Wish me success.

One of the ladies I work with is expecting her first grandchild in September.  Oh, she will definitely enjoy more of the joys of life.

She is always looking in the baby department for clothes for the little one.  There are big name brand baby clothes in several stores and all are quite cute or pretty as is the case sometimes.  What can be prettier than a ruffled baby dress except the baby wearing it or a tiny little suit and the little gentleman wearing it.

I am in the process of crocheting a baby blanket for the little type.  Just in case I do not get it finished and because she is such a nice person, I have also purchased a gift.  This is usually a high dollar brand but because I got it from the outlet mall, I am very pleased with the price.

Is there really a safe diet pill??  Some say yes, others say no.  I do not know.  Several companies proclaim to offer safe diet pills.  Even when diet pills are said to be safe there may be some side effects for different individuals, just as some are allergic to prescription medicines while others are not.

In my life time, I have taken very few diet pills and the result was always ZERO weight lose.  Why? because a pill alone will not provide the weight reduction, only watching what you eat and exercise will produce results.

What are your thoughts?

Today was much like any other Sunday.  Difference being that DH and I went to the church that Granny attended.  Baby sister asked that we go just as we would if Granny were still living and so we did.

Granny always placed flowers in the church on Mother’s Day to honor and in memory of  her Mother.  Today a new tradition started:  Granny’s children are now placing flowers in the church on Mother’s day in her honor and memory.

We came home after church and did our usual lazy or restful Sunday afternoon, then went across the river for supper.

If you are a mother, I surely hope that your children have called or been to see you before 7 pm this day.

Those promoting more weight loss items have come thru with another one, irvingia gabonensis.

This one is a little different in that it is tooted to lower blood pressure, lower bad cholesterol while at the same time helping one to loose weight.  Common sense says if you loose weight, in all probability, these other things will happen.

I know that my blood pressure has gone up since I have gained so much weight.  If weight gain is the reason then weight loss will lower it.

Of course, the name of the game is marketing–proper marketing is increased sales.

I have decided to try a different strategy to my need to loose weight.  Late last year I was counting calories, eating hardly anything, about 1000-1200 a day.  I lost 11 pounds in about 2 months but I was never satisfied when I ate.

Instead of taking ephedra diet pills, I am walking. I will be concerned about some of the things I eat, but it will definitely be more than dry cereal, bananas, and rice cakes.

What about you? If you need to loose weight, what is your approach? I need to think about any methods that you may have used or are using with success. I really need all the help that I can get.

I put on a size 16 dress last Sunday and it fit!!  That is NOT good.  Enough said–time for action.
