Last night was a special treat and blessing for us. Baby daughter and her husband were singing at their church and invited us to go. We both enjoyed the song service and especially when they had a part.
She sings very well and so does her husband. They sang one of her dad’s favorite songs.
I am sure we will be going to hear them sing again. We were welcomed by all and made to feel as if we were not even visitors.
We have almost finished the Christmas shopping. I am thinking that we will spend no more than $150.00, maybe less, and we will be finished.
A couple of Christmases in the past, DH has given me diamonds. There will be no diamonds this year and that is definitely OK!
Saturday night was a good shopping experience. I did not even want to go to town, thinking it would be bumper to bumper and elbow to elbow. We were shopping between 6:30 and 8, with very few people in the stores. I was happily surprised that I could walk without bumping into someone. The crowd was not even as many as are usually out on Saturday night.
I wanted to get DH a new recliner for Christmas but he said he needed something else, not knowing what I had in mind. Maybe I should save to get him a new recliner for his birthday. Time will tell.
DH does most of the servicing for our autos. If it is a major service, we will take it to the dealer but oil change, adding brake and power steering fluids he does. He may use Mopar performance parts, I do not even know. I just put gas in my car and drive it. He keeps everything in good running order for me. I do not even keep up with the mileage for oil changes. I may be a little spoiled when it comes to maintaining my car.
Now that Thanksgiving is over, we as a nation will really start the commercial side of Christmas, even tho some stores started their displays before Halloween. Are you having a party or meeting with family? We will be meeting with family so I do not need the addresses of my friends for Christmas party invitations, but I am seriously thinking I will mail Christmas cards this year so I will need them for that. I have thought of mailing cards in the past, I wonder if I will do more than think this year.
If you work retail this day and age, it is almost factual that at some time you have used a barcode scanner. These are great devices when clean, working properly and the UPC (barcode) is legible. Having worked retail for almost 13 years, I have enjoyed the speed of the scanner and then have had the experience of frustration when I had to use manual methods instead of scanning an item.
I may be old! I remember going to the store with my dad as a young child and the store owner would have a pad and pencil and write down the price of things Daddy wanted and then add them, not with a calculator. Mr. Lennon had an old wooden cash register with a crank type handle that was used to put money in but that was the only benefit.

A time to reflect, remember and be with family, letting them know you are thankful for them. Words may not be necessary, just your presence.
This is the first year that the Chauncey family has not been together. We usually would gather the Sunday after Thanksgiving. However, this year for various reasons it is not going to happen and that upsets me. I do hope that it is not a precedent for years to come. I would have everyone at my house but it is just not big enough to have 20+ people and have moving room.
I talked with my brother Tuesday and may call him tonight.

There are many types of filters, air and water filters are probably the most important for better health. We used those for water until we connected with city water. I sometimes wonder if it would still be a good idea to have our water filtered. Some say that one still needs a filtration system even with city water, but do we really or is it just a way to promote their product.
When traveling, if unsure of the exact location how do you find it. Many people, including my brother (he travels alot!), use a gps. DH asked me if I would like to have one and I replied that I would not. I personally either use directions from a source on the internet or word of mouth with not only directions but also markings along the way (turn at the restaurant on your right at the corner of Wilshire and College Rd. How about you, what method of directions do you prefer?
DH and I are planning to go to Myrtle Beach again tomorrow. We are trying to finish our Christmas shopping before it gets so very busy at the outlets.. Still not sure what we are going to get for some of the little ones. I know that no one will be getting any myrtle beach vacation rentals, if those are for anyone, it will be a joint gift for us. That sounds fair to me.
DH and I made a run to Myrtle Beach today and did a little Christmas shopping. I got the rest of his gift. Ha! no surprise for him on this one. Also got gifts for our daughters, son-in-law, and one of the grandchildren. Also, got his mom’s gift. It is so nice to have that behind us.
I am expecting some disappointment this year. Usually we have gift after gift after gift for the children and grandchildren, it will not be like that this year. The children will not be disappointed but the younger grandchildren may be. Three of the grandchildren are always so appreciative of what we get for them. Their eyes tell the story.
I asked one of the little ones what they wanted for Christmas and he told me something that cost $2.50. I will not have a problem getting that but will also get him something else.
Glad that much is behind us, only have 8 more big gifts to buy before Christmas! I always pick up little things, this year maybe just 1 or 2 things, depending on the cost of the big item. Big item for the grandchildren about 25.00 or 30.00 or a combination to be about $40.00. Sounds cheap but when the facts are considered, it is not.
The main thing is to know WHY we celebrate Christmas and to know that we love them.
