How can no electricity cost a little over $1100.00??!! I will tell you.
We had strong winds here last Wednesday night and sometime during the night the accessory pole by the house that connects electricity from the major pole by the street to our house broke off at the ground.
On my way to the hospital for testing Thursday morning, as I go by the house I look in that direction looking for my dog (he usually follows from one side of the house to the other), I see the pole laying across the fence. I call DH to let him know and ask if I should go back home and handle the situation or go on for my test. He says continue on my way he will handle it. I continue on, but call DD#1 to call the power company to come cut off the power.
Now for the expense: DH leaves work at 9:30am, missing 7 hours of work. He is suppose to work on Friday but still no power, so he misses 10 hours overtime. The electrician gave us a break on his labor chargers, but with supplies and labor, his bill was almost $575.00. We have to eat out Thursday night, all meals on Friday and Saturday night. We had to eat out Saturday night because I had planned left- overs but when I took them from the fridge, they were spoiled.
So there you have it folks—-No electricity for 2 days and the bill is $1100.00 plus.
However there is a good side to this. The weather Thursday and Friday was very nice. Late Spring Days–no need for even a jacket during the middle of the day say from about 10 until 4. Also, Thursday nite was warm so we did not even need heat.
