CRAFT CLUB 12-26-08

Oh my! Oh My! I have been so busy the past week, I have done no crafts. That means I did not make any jewelry but I did sell a custom order to my SIL’s husband for one of her Christmas gifts. I have not crocheted the first stitch either.

Honestly, I had even forgotten that it was Friday until I saw the post over at cassknits. This week has flown by and I am still not ready for tomorrow.

Hopefully I will have something to show next Friday. I still have 2 WIP plus a project bouncing around in my head.

OVEN NOT RIGHT

I am trying to bake ‘pigs in the blanket’ for our extended family gathering at my SIL’s house, it is disastrous. Directions say bake at 375 for 20 to 25 minutes. Been in the oven 21 minutes and have not even started to turn brown. The next batch I will adjust the oven to 400, can’t be here all night baking, will miss all the fun.

I did report that the second oven door was also warped and was told to call repair, repair may want to evaluate and possibly replace stove. Something needs to be done—my very good blueberry cobble is just fair now, packy not light and good.

I told 2 of the GSs to be ready at 5:30 because they wanted to ride with me. It looks as if 7:00 would have been early enough as slow as the oven is baking.

The goodies have been baking for 30 minutes and still not ready. Sure am glad that I do not have to use the oven on Saturday when the daughters and their families come over.

Instead of giving you a minute by minute detail of how the oven is not working, I could get dressed and that would be done.

NOT READY YET

I am so glad that Santa does not have to come see little ones at my house. I am so not ready for Christmas gatherings. I still have to prepare food for my SIL’s tonite, finish wrapping gifts for DH and finish wrapping gifts for our immediate family gathering on Saturday. The really nice part is I do not remember where I put a a couple of presents for one of daughter’s husband.

Today, I have carried gifts to my MIL’s for her to give my family, gone to Wally World with DD#1 and while there picked up 2 picnic shoulders for our dinner on Saturday.

Oops!! time is slipping away—-I must get up from here change the linens on our bed, bathe and shampoo my hair, prepare food and leave here about 5:30. Looks as if I have plenty of time, but I really do not. I move very slow. Do not know what the words hurry and fast mean.

BLOG your BLESSING 12-21-08

First, apologies for missing so many Sundays.

Thankfully, I was not left stranded. I noticed, as I left work Monday, some liquid around my car but did not think anything about it. My car drove fine on the way home so I said ‘all is well’. Tuesday DD#1 and I go to the mall that is across the river, to be there only a few minutes to exchange some jeans for the boys. As we get just into town, my car acts really weird as if it is trying to cut off. Well, as I get 16 blocks into town, it does cut off but cranks again with no problem. OH NO!! all of the gauges are going off the scale. It cuts off again about 25 blocks into town. We are now only 5 blocks from the mall and Sears Automotive is in the mall. I do make it to the automotive section. One of the radiator hoses was split and 2 others badly damaged and the fluid was gone.

I am so thankful that I was not stranded on the road. That is truly a blessing!

The few minutes that we were to spend in one store turned into about 3 hours that we walked and window shopped the entire mall. Of course, a few of the windows enticed us to enter, so I made a few gift purchases. More blessings, I purchased a $45. hat and scarf combination for only $10., a $90. pair of shoes for only $25. No need to waste an afternoon in the mall.

TO DO-TO DO-TO DO

I have so much to do and it seems like so little time to get it done. I say every year that this is not going to happen next and the next year it seems even worse. “This” is being rushed to wrap gifts, checking my lists making sure no one is left out, and last minute shopping. I have so much to do that I am watching very little TV and it would not help my situation even if I had a Slingbox, unless I gave it as a gift.

I purchase items and put them in the spare bedroom until it is past time to go thru them and separate each person’s gifts. The ideal thing to do would be cut back on the amount I buy. If not that, at least organize it and wrap as I go. I am almost positive that I have misplaced 2 sets of sheets, a spoon rest, spatula and possibly matching dishtowels and hot pads.

I found out tonite that I still have shopping to do that I had no idea needed to be done. Oh well, so is life–unexpected things happen. The very sad part is I have run out of money.

DIZZY

I am not even close to being ready for Christmas. My house is still a disaster, the laundry is behind, presents still need to be wrapped and possibly more bought. YK, gotta try to keep the gifts about even. Our daughters and their families will come over the 27th to be with us and get their gifts.

I have to grocery shop for the Christmas meal we will be having. The menu is simple and easy. DH will prepare big dry limas w/ham hocks, hot sausage, and I will prepare rice, picnic shoulder, warm potato salad, and green beans. I may or may not cook more rice in the liquid that I get from cooking the shoulder. I could eat some of the shoulder now if it was ready, a sandwich with mayo—yum yum.

To make things very interesting and not easy to accomplish what needs to be done—I have vertigo! What shall I do? I know – - – I will just do the next thing as my dizziness allows.

MEETING with COUSINS

I have posted about the family reunion that cousins on Mother’s side of the family invite me. Tonight I am to have supper with 2 cousins from Daddy’s side of the family. Originally there were 19 first cousins, now there are only 5. Probably for the past 4 or 5 years, I have been invited to go to Whiteville for this gathering. I even took Mother once or twice. I am looking forward to going. The only drawback is DH does not want to go, so I will ride with a deceased first cousin’s son. It is not far, he offered to let me ride, so I do not even have to concern myself with any travel deals. Can’t get much better than that–free ride plus good company.

BITTER DAY

What a very cold, bitter, cold day we had here in the southeastern part of NC. Did I say it was cold today? Try setting up for a craft show between 7:30 and 8am outside with the temp about 35 degrees and a slight wind. Yes, that is cold for someone like me who prefers to be in a cozy warm house when temps are like that, especially that early on a Saturday morning.

This day was also bitter because rather than make money we lost money. We did not even make enough to cover the space rental fee. We probably would have been better off to spend our money on Ephadrasil hardcore even if we may not need it.

It sure is a good thing that we enjoy beading or we would be more disappointed than we are.
