FAMILY GATHERINGS

My family does not get together very often any more and then when we do, all do not attend.  It has been a few months since I have seen my brother and I am so looking forward to this Sunday.  We will be celebrating Thanksgiving together.  Of a possible 28 people, I am only expecting 18.  DH will, in all probability, be working.

We will have a planned menu meal with individual families bringing different dishes to make a well balanced, tasty and enjoyable meal.

My brother and I live about 2 hours apart, but life seems so busy, that we do not see each as we did before Mother died.  That is not his fault nor is it mine, it is life.  Maybe we can start meeting halfway, have lunch, discuss and solve the world problems and return to our homes.  He leans toward the Democrats and I lean toward the Republicans, suppose we could compromise on a solution.

You think maybe I rambled enough in this post??

COLD KOLD COLD

I am cold!  Yes, the heat is going full blast and I have on a lightweight jacket.  Must be a mind thing.  It is 39 degrees now and we had just a few snow flakes this afternoon.  That’s it! a mind thing-snow means cold right?  The younger grandchildren were so excited.  I do not know the weather for tonight except cold, will I ever be surprised if I get up for work tomorrow and the ground is covered with snow.  That would be very bad news for me—I am scheduld to work and I do NOT drive in the snow.

STOCK TRADING

I have never traded much in the stock market.  I really believe ‘a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush’, so I tend to leave what little money I have in secure deposits.  I have dibbled in the market a time or two, once losing all that I had invested.  So you see, I am somewhat afraid that may happen again.  I am sure that should I decide to try my hand at stock trading again, I would have lots of choices with online trading.  I understand that this is as safe as with your personal broker.

I don’t know that I am afraid of anything and I know that I am not mad enough with anyone that it would show in my self-portrait.  At least, I don’t think it does.  People, I took over 50 shots!!  I was beginning to think that I was going to post without a pic.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

No, I am not looking for a job!   I will soon have a full time job, if I do it to the specifications that I have set for myself.  At any rate, if I am swollen like I am today, with my feet so swollen they are uncomfortable to walk upon, I really do not think any one listed with logistics jobs would consider that a reason to call in to work.  I know that my present employer would not, but if I am working for myself and this happens I can only do what I feel must be done. No boss, no rules but also no money.

What does the above paragraph have to do with job qualifications??

KEYS! WHERE ARE the KEYS?

“Oh Shoot!” as the door shuts behind me.  “What’s wrong?”  “Nothing except the keys are on the dining table, but that is not a problem.”

This is how the little shopping excursion started for DD#1 and me today.   We spent very little money, probably because we had very little to spend.  We went to Wal-mart and the local bead store.  We did discover the very high pricing of the local bead store, when we took the time to actually figure per item costs.  Yes, $4.99 for a package of 10 is rather pricey compared to the same package on line for $2.00.  We have decided that even if we have to pay shipping unless we have to have said item this day, we will wait 3-5 days to get it much cheaper on line.  This is good for us and the consumer of our products.  If we can get supplies cheaper, that naturally means the consumer can purchase for less.

I only made about 4 pieces today but have several in mind.  I have started trying to use as much of the products as possible when I open them rather than make a piece from this type bead, put those away and start something entirely different.  Work goes faster and I know more of exactly what I have.  Since I am not quilting, I cannot put any left over beads in a project and call it pretty or even finished with those.

I also made an apple cobbler and started the stew for supper tonight.

Did a little cleaning in my bath room but need to sweep and mop the floor.

FLOOR REPAIR

If it is not one problem it may be two.  Yes, a few years ago, our hot water heater started leaking.  It leaked for a very long time before we knew that we had a problem.  So long, in fact, that the flooring got wet, stayed wet and eventually rotted.  The only way we found we had a leak, the floor was giving when we stepped up to the sink.  OOPS! big problem here.  DH replaced the heater and the flooring.  We may not have had such an ordeal if we had had a tankless water heater.  What do you think?

My agenda: went to SS and church, out to lunch with adopted family, may get nap, have to prepare food for DH before he goes to work, may go see special friends. If I do not make the visit, I will (U guessed it) bead.

CRAFT CLUB 11-7-08

I have been very busy making jewelry, but not doing other things that I need to do.  See—-this is what I have done in 2 weeks

on the right gray pearls 8,6,and 4mm 19.5″.  the left is 6mm gray and white 16.5″

Purple Purple Purple! top is 8mm resin accented w/3mm white pearls 18″ next is 8mm resin accented w/silver lined glass E bead 16″ next 8mm resin accented w/silver E bead 19″ bottom is 8mm resin accented w/metal scroll bead 14.5″
top is another 8mm green resin accented w/clear glass E bead 15″ bottom is oblong wooden beads accented w/gold E beads 20.5″ A favorite of mine 8mm blue sodalite accented w/white pearl E beads 20″

The 2 above have scrimp closures and go on over the head.  I like this method.

No one liked the black acrylic bead with the resin. I am going to take it apart (would that be called unstringing) and use another type black bead.

The necklaces were sold at a private showing and I learned that for the most part, these ladies like longer necklaces, guess that means I will be adding a few inches to some of the ones I make in the future.

BUSY PERSON

My morning has been quite busy (for me anyway).  I got up about 6:45, bathed and shampooed my hair.  Tried to style my hair but ——————.   Beaded for a few minutes, made my early morning appointment, went to Walmart, to the bank, to the grocery store, back to the bank, have the groceries in the fridge.  (I just realized that everything I bought at the grocery store has to be refrigerated).  It is now 10:45.

I must eat something, go to K-mart so that I can check my schedule, get prescriptions for DH’s upcoming cataract surgery, possibly check on my layaway, get a spiral 50 page 4×6 index card thingy.  I then drive across town to meet the teacher interested in some jewelry.

After this, I will return home, bead a few minutes and then warm leftovers for DH before he leaves for work.  After he leaves, I plan to do detailed vacuuming (using the attachment to get in the nicks and crannies).  I will probably do a little straightening, fold my laundry and do another load and of course BEAD.

I also need to do my “Craft Club” post.
