WHAT is the GIFT

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

What do you gift to a person that you may want to know that you are thinking of them but really do not want to send flowers? When I am in this situation, I usually give gift baskets.  This gift is appropriate for any situation, hospital stay, new baby, birthday, job promotion or even in the event of a loved one’s death.  The variety is endless and can be made to fit anyone’s personality.

Just like adults, babies and young children have the need for bed linens. My baby did not have matching linens when she was an infant. In fact, very few that I knew at the time had matching baby bedding. Now manufacturers make everything to match just like they do for the adult world.   One of the favorite gifts that she received was a crossstitched quilt made by my SIL.  It had all kinds of baby animals on it and was really pretty and I know involved a lot of time to make.  Someone staying with us packed it with their belongings when they moved out, (I am sure by accident) I do wish they had returned it.

This was taken for my SPS on Mother’s Day but thought the one posted that day was better for the day.   Yes, there have been personal changes since this was taken but do not have time to mess with taking a fresh one today.

I have made another lanyard in different colors of acrylic pearls—black, gray, very light gray and white.  Lanyards need to be made in either acrylic or resin beads as the glass beads would make it heavy and uncomfortable to wear.

I have beads to make a teal, an orangish maybe I should say corral and brown, and an orange and black ones.  Those three should keep me busy a few days.

I am off tomorrow and if I do not go to Wadesboro with DD#1, I must clean some before I can bead.

BLOG your BLESSING 9-21-08

1.  DH got off work today at his usual time 0f 5:30 instead of working until 7.  Normally we would just be getting out of the kitchen now.

2.  After months of needing cateract surgery, DH has left eye done on October 20th and right eye on November 17th.  The biggest blessing in this is that his doctor asked him to pray that all would be well and that God direct his hands during the surgery.

Hope all have a blessed and happy week.

Well, finally I get a pic that I did not move the camera too much but am having a conversation with DH.

This is picture #24. I need a more steady hand when I use the camera or an auto focus camera.

My body is always tired and I push myself to do whatever I do unless I am sitting.  I take my vitamins and other meds for my thyroid but am still always tired.  Since the vitamins do not seem to give me the energy I need, I wonder if it were possible to install a new hard drive in me if it would do for me what it would for my computer. I really do need to be able to work better and I can’t remember half of what I need to at the time the memory is needed, so maybe more memory installed would help too.

Time to get up and get thru with supper so that I can make another lanyard.  I have one ready to string.

No, it was not a fun night.  DD#1 called about 8:45 asking if I wanted to ride with her and DGD#3 to the ER.  DGD was crying with the ear ache.  This, of course, is after all medac offices in the area have closed.  So we go the ER and finally get home about 1:30.  I am so glad that I did not have to work to day.

Diagnosis from the doctor was the same as mine ‘swimmers ear’.  He has a medical license and can write prescriptions, so we had no choice but to take her and get some meds for the problem.

I can remember lying on the sofa when I was a small child with a heating pad over one of my ears.  Even now, if I get in the wind for any length of time (say 15 minutes or more) I will get an ear ache, even in the summer.

Morning report says she is better and the pain is less.  I sure am glad.

Wow!! has it really been 22 years since my first grandchild was born?  That seems like forever ago and then again like last week.  He has grown into a very handsome young man.  His mom has done well.  Even at his age he always says “yes mam, no mam”.  I have never heard him say ‘yeah’ or ‘no’ when speaking to an adult.  I’m from the south and all about manners and respect.

CRAFT CLUB 9-19-08

Friday, September 19th, 2008

I do not have anything completed this week.  Let me tell you a sad story as to why my project is not finished.  My plans were to make another lanyard on Wednesday night when DD#1 came over to do some crafting,  but it just didn’t happen.  I had the pattern laid out on the board just as I wanted it, picked it up to go in the living room to sit with DH and her and as I started to sit down the board became unbalanced and many of the beads (too many) landed on the floor.  Instead of stringing the beads, I had to redo the pattern, getting the beads in stringing order again.

So all you will see are some of the beads in order but I still have about 1/3 of them yet to be placed in order.  Maybe it and another one or two will be strung by next Friday.

I need to crochet some more on Prissy’s blanket. It will be needed in a couple more months.

I know that there are people out in www that craft other than the few that share their projects over at cassknits, won’t you share your crafts with us here.
