PLAN CHANGED

My plan for today has been changed and I have no control.  I am off today and all other days I am working until at least 5 except Wednesday, I get off at 2.
I thought I would be going after butter beans this morning, getting back to my house about 10:30.  I called the produce owner and he says it will be about lunch time before his workers can have them picked.  He took my phone number after stating he may have the workers go to a different field and pick the speckled beans that I want.

The green beans that we did last week gave a yield of 33 pints, of which 24 are in my freezer,  8 in DD freezer and 1 DH and I ate.

I have to clean some on the house since I cannot go get beans now.  What a horrible chore!!!

CRAFT CLUB 08-15-08

Cooking is an art and art is a craft. I have been too busy in the kitchen to do much yarn crafting this week.



This is about 12 pints of beans and I probably have about 15 more pints to finish. The beans in this container have been bagged and are in the freezer. Now the container is in the fridge with the estimated 15 pints. Yes, I need to be bagging them now but they will wait until tomorrow when I have not worked 8.5 hours.

For those of you who may can or freeze veggies, I highly recommend the above container. It is made by Rubbermaid, 2 gallon size, has a lid and is in my area at Wal-mart for $10.84.

I hope that this is not too far from what you may consider crafting.

WEIGHT PROBLEMS

I am not talking about the weights that one may lift to increase muscle and tone the body. I am talking about the blubber that appears on my body that has one roll of fat over another. My waist is almost undefined. I am just fat, really enjoy eating, thus eating too much. Most foods that I have eaten I like, so I could not be classified as a picky eater. I am too lazy to exercise, maybe Slimquick and self discipline is what I need to help eliminate my problem.

CRAFT CLUB 8-8-08

I am satisfied with what I have done on the afghan since I decided on the pattern and the color-way to use. I did waste a lot of time fiddling with different versions of the color-way and stitching until I at last made up mind.

I have been really busy in the area of freezing vegetables ( is that a craft?). The afghan is about 50 inches wide. Here is what I have done so far:

SEARCHING SUCCESS

Finally I have searching success in my attempt to find butter beans. Yes, you did read that correctly. I have finally found butter beans– green ones. I should be able to get the colored or speckled ones next week or the week after.

I did get a bushel of peas in Wallace for my MIL and 1 for us. Those selling butter beans at the Wallace Flea Market wanted $40.00/bushel for beans. That is more than I am willing to pay. I did pay $25/bushel in Rose Hill at Teachey’s Farm Produce. I bought 1 bushel for my MIL and 3 bushels for us.

I shelled the peas yesterday afternoon and finished them last night and DD shelled a half bushel of beans. We then started working on another bushel of beans and shelled maybe half of those, which means I still have about 2 bushels of beans to shell by myself as she is going out of town this week-end.

I was up until about 12:45 last night and had to be to work at 7:45 this morning, I am tired and have alot of work to be done before I can go to bed tonight, so I really need some very strong energy pills to give me the stamina I need to finish shelling those beans.

I could have gotten them shelled for $30./bushel, but being the weird creature that I am I wanted to shell them myself.

STILL SEARCHING

I am still searching for butter beans.  DD and I have shelled 5 bushels of peas.  I have lost count of the number of pints that has been frozen.  I called the guy that has been selling me the peas to ask for 2 bushels and he tell me the peas are gone until fall peas are ready.  I will search tomorrow in Wallace and possibly Rose Hill for beans and if I do not find any, I may have to give up for this year.  How sad that will be.

Here I sit about 7am waiting for the time that I should leave for work. Have you ever seen anyone so happy to be going to work? Really, I am laughing at how bizarre the pic before this one looks. I only took 3 today.

A DIFFERENT DOCTOR

My lower legs and feet have been swelling for a few years,usually in the summer so I just blamed it on the heat. A few weeks back, my lower legs were blotched, strange, just from my ankles to just below my knees. It looked as if I had a rash but there were no little bumps, just redness. Again, this happened, but only two or three places. This mess started again on Thursday and did not go away during the night.

I called the Doctor that I see for things other than my thyroid and I was in his office in less than 2 hours. He does not know the problem yet, but is doing test to either confirm or rule out my heart. Yesterday I had a venous doppler, chest x-ray(2 views) and 4 vials of blood drawn to be analyzed 5 ways. He said he should have results Monday.

The supervisors at my job are the best! This being tax free week-end, we were very busy, and a person short at the service desk, but they did not complain in the least or even suggest that I wait. As soon as I could, I returned to work and was asked when my shift ended if I would mind staying until someone finished their dinner break. Of course, I stayed. I have worked at places that thought one was never to miss work for any reason.
