NOT THAT BIG A FOOL

I am not as crazy as I thought. Yes, the beans were aggravating to shell and hard to cull but the yield was great—15 and 3/4 pints. I really did not over spend but I will be more careful of produce I buy in the future.

I will now snap the green beans that I bought. Mother has said they are not good frozen. To my knowledge, I have never tasted any frozen but if I have enough, I think I will freeze some just to taste for myself. I really do not think there will be enough difference in taste to freeze them rather than use canned store bought. I will let you know what I think, but I am not a professional taster.

“A FOOL AND HIS/HER MONEY

ARE SOON SEPARATED”. What a true statement this is!! Yesterday I went to Clarkton to meet my cousin so she could get the lawnmowers she had bought from my brother. While there I shopped for farm fresh produce. Stupid as it may sound to some, I prefer the home grown and also like to shell my own beans and peas.

I paid a small fortune (I am ashamed to say how much) for a bushel of colored butter beans. I knew the beans did not look good, but really did not realize how bad they were until DD and I started shelling on them. A lesson I will not forget—if the produce does not look good, leave it where it is and especially leave my money in my pocket. I did refrain from paying $3. for a pint of blueberries.

I must get up from here put a load of clothes in the washer and wash and inspect again those sorry beans and prepare for the freezer what is worth saving. I inspected mine as I shelled but DD did not.
