WORK & IRA

Only 339 days left. I will be so glad when that time comes.

I stopped by the bank today and questioned transferring my 401k to and IRA. I will probably be doing that very soon. My 401K is suppose to be in a guaranteed savings but my recent reports are telling me that it has been put in short term investments. I do not want this. I had rather be assured of 25 cents than risk making 50cents and possibly losing that.

I have always been one that had rather be guaranteed a little than take the risk of making more and if things did not go well losing what I had already saved. As the saying goes “a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush”. I really believe this.

SUPPER

Monday night we had leftovers.  Last night we had homemade spaghetti sauce with noodles.  I cannot make sauce that taste really good anymore.  I never used a recipe, just some of this and a little of that and it almost always was good.  Probably for the past 2 years, we have eaten it only because that was what was prepared.  The sauce just never seems to taste really good anymore.  Maybe it is time to use a recipe.  Tonight we will be having pinto beans with rice and fresh pork sausage.  I do not have a clue as to what will be served here tomorrow night.

I do know that we will be taking DH truck into town for repair on Friday.  That sounds to me as if we may eat in town.  Time will tell.

D R A G G I N G

I do not know what the problem is but I have definitely been dragging since Thursday afternoon.  My right knee and hip are bothering me a lot.  In fact on the drive back from Mother’s Thursday, I had to use my left foot to depress the brake peddle.  My right knee hurt really bad when I tried to use it.  No, I have not been to the doctor, but am taking Advil and Tylenol when the pain is really really bad.

I made one trip upstairs today in the lay-a-way department to do more cleaning and straightening and decided on the way down that 1 trip was more than enough.  I sure am glad that I did not have to travel those stairs for lay-a-way purposes.  Of course, I guess I could have done like everyone else does—do it “my” way and not care if it is the correct way or the wrong way.

I feel tired as if my medication is not right.  I had labs done on Feb 25th and I was on the low end of the correct range.  If I soon do not get back up to par I will call for another thyroid level testing.

CRAFT CLUB 3-21-08

I am making yet another baby doll blanket. I do not like this one as well as I do the first 2 that I made. I moved up just one hook size (from a J to a K) and it makes a lot of difference in appearance and feel. I will make one more with the K hook and if I make anymore I will go back to the J hook. Probably 3 or 4 more rounds and this one will be finished.


I really need to be working on the real baby blanket, maybe I will get to it sometime over the weekend.

PHYSICALLY ACTIVE

I did more than the usual–sit in front of the computer today. I did that also, but I got real exercise. I went to Mother’s today and cut back, way back, the azaleas that she had planted in the bed with the blueberries. The azaleas were getting so big that access to the blueberries was a trifle difficult. I also cut off a crepe myrtle and tried to cut back some type of vine that just wraps itself all around time and time again the stems to the blueberries. I really need to do a lot of work in that 8 x 30 feet of yard.

All of the shrubbery needs to be trimmed, some a lot more than others. There are several shrubs and other greenery that is against the house and that has to go. I know this may be the wrong time of the year to trim or cut back, but if it dies it dies.

I will probably be so sore tomorrow that I hurt each time I move. I will be okay, a little hard work never hurt anybody.

ITEMS at the ESTATE SALE

Several pieces of furniture were offered at the estate sale and most of them are still there. Hopefully, I can get rid of them at the next sale I have. No teak furniture was part of the sale. I do not think my parents ever owned any furniture made from this type wood. They did have a side table that was made before 1910. No one wanted to pay my price for it, maybe next time.

WINE or NOT

I do not care for the taste of wine but I have a nephew that does.  No, he is not a wine-o, he just likes to have a glass of wine before his meals sometimes.  In fact, he has recently moved to an area well known for its wine production, went on a tour of the facility and was invited to join their wine of the month club.  Need I say more, of course he joined, and when we had a family gathering at his house, he had several types of wine to offer those that wanted to indulge.

LEAVE IT BE

‘Leave it be’ is a phrase that I often use with the grandchildren if they are messing with something that I think they shouldn’t. I have nothing that I need tsa locks on to keep them from messing with as my look and phrase is all that I need do or say. I have been told they are afraid of me, but when I asked the baby boy he laughed and said “nooo”.  It is past time I get back on my schedule of ‘one on one’ with them.

The WONDER of IT

I had no idea that I would enjoy having a yard sale. Don’t get me wrong, the ticket price to have the sale was quite tiring, including several days of hard work. I am looking forward to the next time I have enough days off to get another one ready.  If I enjoy it as much as I did my first one, I may be in serious need of addiction treatment. I can now understand why some people spend almost every Saturday morning touring the yard sales.  I personally know 2 ladies that travel about 50 miles one way every Saturday to go yard-saleing.

CLIMBING STAIRS

I knew but today I realized for sure that I am too old to be going up and down stairs. Going up is the real problem unless, of course, I am bring something down the stairs other than myself.

I did a lot of stair climbing today trying to get the upstairs storage area for lay-a-ways in better order giving us more space. I have just a few more signs to remove, tie up some loose cords, sweep the area and it will be ready and look so much better.

Lots of bagged items have been stored downstairs and they should be hung upstairs. I am the oldest person that works in lay-a-way and I have a really hard time understanding why others can’t climb the stairs also. OH! you say laziness. I am inclined to agree.

Today I found DVDs just bagged with other items and sitting on an open shelf.  This was done by the lay-a-way lead!!  Everyone knows that DVDs are to be stored in the security cabinet.

I am off tomorrow and Friday, work in the pharmacy Saturday and Monday and am off again on Sunday. I wonder what the department will look like on Tuesday.
