BLOG your BLESSING 4-24-08

As crazy to some as this may sound, I am thankful for the resources available on the internet.  Yes, I spend far too much time sitting in front of the computer.   Yet when I use it correctly it helps me find friends that I have only on line, is entertaining, provides a line of communication almost as good as the telephone, and the amount of educational information to be found is unreal.

At this time, I am using many websites to find approximate values of items that I will have at the estate sale from my mother’s house.  I have found that some items I was planning to charge $2.00 for are indeed valued as $9.00 and higher.  Another item I thought maybe $10.00 would be about right is valued at $55.00.

So needless to say my blessing this week has been internet resources and will benefit me until I have the sale and probably after.

MONITORS

Remember when in school, we had hall monitors, lunch room monitors and even bus monitors. Now my question is why on earth would one need anything like alarm system monitoring? If the alarm sounds then apparently it is working thus not needing someone to monitor it. But then again if it sounds, may be that a monitor is needed to find the reason that it did sound. The alarm for one of the doors at work did sound the other night and this is a door that should never be opened. Someone not using their brain (which is often the case with him) had opened the doors and then acted as if nothing was wrong. Go figure!!

LIGHTING

I have a problem with the seagulls where I park my car at work. Almost every day, I should wash my car, but I don’t. They like to perch on some of the night light post better than others, so if I am picky when I chose a parking spot the problem is not as bad. Of course, being the lazy person that I am, the closer to the door that I can park the better I like it. To make a long story short the seagulls around my work place do not need any Seagull lighting.

MIXED EMOTIONS

I am sad that one of the ladies in the pharmacy is so sick that she is missing work. I understand that her problem is quite painful. I know she must really be sick SICK, because she just does not miss work. She was in the ER early Saturday morning and missed work yesterday (Monday) and today. I am glad to be the fill-in for her as it will really boost my pay check. In fact, it will probably add at least 16 hours to my weekly amount.

This extra amount will really help with what I need to get done, especially with the unexpected and added expense of the repair to the septic tank at Mother’s. I still do not have an answer to that problem but know that something will have to be done to correct it.

The extra hours are very tiring. Standing on my feet constantly in one place or almost one place for 8 hours is definitely not something I am used to doing. I have always heard ‘if you dance, you have to pay the fiddler’, so I guess the pain in my feet, legs and lower back is paying the fiddler for the extra income I will have.

BLOG YOUR BLESSING 2-17-08

What does one call a blessing?? It varies from just being alive to being able to run a marathon or sky dive or any other physical activity or maybe even thinking over one’s life. I am depressed today so it is hard for me to name a particular blessing. I know I would feel better if I could discuss my reason for depression but I can’t, I must hold it inside until I can get over it, or until I think the angered person is no longer angry.

I really do have blessings, more than I can count. My job is a blessing in that I can work in several areas: service desk, cashier, layaway, stocking, (if I have to) receiving, (again, if I have to) and the pharmacy. I can also work in the office but am not fast enough to satisfy and in electronics (tho I am not knowledgeable there). I guess one could say I may have job security.

I worked in the pharmacy yesterday for the first time in a few months and the manager there wants me every Monday and the pharmacy tech said “they just need to let you be our fill in all the time”.

Hey all I need is a job for one more year!

CRAFT CLUB #22

Finally, the doll blanket is finished. Well almost, I still have to tie in loose thread ends and laundry, then it will be ready for gift giving. It is square even tho it does not look as if it is.

Those of you who crochet and probably some that do not know that this is the easy and familiar ‘granny’ square.

I’M JUST SLOW

I worked at Mother’s house today. Again, not a lot done. I did go thru the stuff in her dresser, found Daddy’s will. It had left everything to Mother. Bless her, she kept every piece of paper that she ever received. She really didn’t but it sure seems that way sometimes. I can’t just throw away a bundle of old papers because she was famous for putting this between that to keep this. With any luck, another hour or so in her room and it will be finished.

I did box up the set of dishes that DD wanted and no one else mentioned and brought them back to her. Cleared out the top shelf of the cabinets by the stove. So much to do. It sounds as if it would be easy to go thru and keep what is good and throw out what is not. It really is not as Mother was a pack rat.

I can work there again tomorrow. Maybe I can get more done than I did today.

I do have to have someone work on the septic tank. A great blessing would be for the county to decide that sewer lines would be put in place next week.

Since I am now at my house and not at hers, I do need to CROCHET. My friend’s children are leaving Monday.
