Mother would have been 97 today. She lived a long life, worked hard all of it, and was in fairly good health until the last 6 years. Yes, she had health problems but kept them under control with regular visits to the doctor and doing as near as possible just what he said. Finally, renal failure was more than she could handle.
It has been quite a while since I have read for pleasure. I did buy a magazine yesterday and one today, but have no idea when I will sit down and read them. I read magazines like I do books, I start with the first page and read each article in its entirety rather than reading this article and then flipping halfway thru the magazine to another article and reading it. I do however, skip the ads. I am going to crochet now instead of read.
do not expect me to earn my wage. What is it with so many people in the job market today?? Those in their very late teens or very early twenties, think the world owes them a living. Of course some in their fifties think this way too. I worked as a cashier today and enjoyed doing so. I had not filled this position in well over a year. I was suppose to leave at 1 but because of those that do not take job responsibility serious and get by with it, I did not leave until 2:45. I know that is my own fault, I could have walked out at 1, but I do take my job serious and no I will not get anything extra for staying except my normal rate of pay. I have a responsibility to perform my job well and if needed, do what I can to ease the crunch.
If more employees were job conscientious instead of just wanting a pay check, what a great place to work and shop. These employees do not have the common sense to think if we do not have shoppers, we do not have jobs or else they just do not care.
So many of them have added support because of my tax dollars. No, I am NOT against welfare programs, but only if one has a true need and does not lie to get the benefit. I know of some that have a live in companion, but get all benefits available because they are not married and only claim their income when applying for assistance. Now I ask you, is this right?

There are many different styles of beds, also those with box springs and those with only a mattress. I do not care the style or type as long as the mattress is very firm. I bet the firm mattress would seem to be even more firm if placed on one of many different styles of platform beds, without the box springs. I remember as a young teenager, after working hard during the day on the farm, I would lie on the floor for an hour or so before retiring for the evening and it seemed to help me rest better.
Booking hotel reservations when going on vacation is not always an easy thing to do. I always like to book mine before we leave home rather than hoping something will be available when I get to said destination. I know that if I were to vacation in Vegas, Las Vegas hotel reservations prebooked would be the first priority of my vacation plans. I really do not think I will ever travel that far west, more likely I will travel south or south-east.
It is now my house but I guess I will always refer to it as Mother’s house. We got rid of some junk (trash) Saturday, and my deceased brother’s daughter took the items that she got, but there is still lots to do before it can be rented. Never having the renting experience before, I probably should contact a real estate agent and let them handle it.
I am thinking that I may have an estate sale or let my cousins come in and sell to them what they want for their flea market. I know whatever way I go, much work needs to be done before it can be rented. Thankfully, I have someone interested.
If you could tell your boss one thing without any consequences, and without profanity, what would it be?
I would tell her that it was mandatory that we have a layaway meeting tomorrow, and anyone who worked in that department must attend, even the managers. If one does not attend, then no longer can they work in layaway, not even as a relief for breaks or lunches.
Also, after the said meeting, if those working that department cannot do the job as stated in the meeting, then they have to go—either to another department or out the door.
I need at least a dollar raise, Feb 20, I will be with the company 11 years, but my salary does not reflect that. I also need to be in charge of the layaway department.
I started this blanket March 2006 and finally about 2 weeks ago I finished the stitching but still have to work in the loose ends. The stitches are very easy and I should have completed it much sooner. Considering my life had been similar to a roller coaster and I must be in the mood to stitch and the baby was 2 in October, everything is ok. The blanket is large enough that she can still use it for a couple more years. Yes, I intentionally make my baby blankets large.

I really just want to stay inside where it is nice and warm but I can’t do that. I must go across the river and have new tires put on my car. The tread is still very good but the tires are so old and have so many miles on them, I am afraid one of them may blow out on me. The tires are at least 4 years old if not older. May of 2006 my mileage was 100550, yesterday it was 132???. Has this ever happened to any of you or am I just being paranoid? I could probably continue on with the present tires, but I travel a lot by myself and in my younger (much younger) days did change a tire, but am sure I could not today. I hope this needed shopping trip does not cost an arm and leg.
On the brighter side, since I must go out anyway, I plan to stop at the fish market and have nice fresh fish for supper. I have been wanting good fish for several months now, so the assured way of getting good fish is to prepare them myself. I have eaten them on several occasions when we go out, but they while half-good, do not satisfy my taste for fish. The menu for tonight is fried fish, baked sweet potato (really cooked in the micro, but just as good) and cornbread. I know even this early in the day I will eat far too many calories and fat grams.
Unless one is in those trashy movies or lived in many days gone by, I do not see the need of any type of corset, especially sexy corsets. My personal opinion is that when one acts or dresses in a way trying to be sexy, they appear to have a low self esteem and are trying to improvise in the wrong way. I do not need to know that a female is preparing for heart surgery becasue her blouse is cut so low that she could easily be sited for indecent exposure.
