MOTHER 10-22-07

This afternoon Mother was catnapping but mostly napping. She did give me a faint smile in between one of her naps.

She did not eat any supper Saturday or Sunday nights and only 75% of her breakfast and lunch.  How she is maintaining her weight is beyond me.

Advantage Hospice will began caring for her tomorrow during the day hours and if facility assistance is needed, it is still available.  At least maybe now her teeth will be brushed daily and she will have lotion applied and her bed linens will be changed 3 days a week.  She will have the opportunity to drink fluids other than at mealtime.  She still will not have one on one care but her day aid will only have 2-3 or 4 more residents to care for.

She may or may not continue to get up for showers twice a week.  The plan is that for now she will continue to do so.

My brother and I are in no way trained in the medical field, but we do know Mother needs more assistance than she is getting from the facility and in some ways it is no fault of the facility and others it is.  We are just wanting what is best for Mother.

BBQ SANDWICH

I just ate my lunch and it was good.  I usually do not eat lunch as such when I am home.  I snack almost all day rather than eating a meal.  I had been thinking about the BBQ that I had saved from freezing since I got up.  I was not disappointed, it was delicious even if I did make it.  The sandwich would have been better if it had been on a hamburger bun instead of wheat bread and if I had a little slaw with it.  Now the wheat bread is good, but a wheat bun would have been better.  I guess it is just a mind thing.

My time of playing is up.  I need to go check on Mother and take her some clean clothes and pick up her dirty ones.

TV TIME

When the grandchildren come for their visit and we are watching TV, I will wish that I had a home theater including the seating. Some may say that I am crazy but they just do not understand, “Bless their Hearts”, I am looking forward to all of the children being here. I will miss giving them the one on one attention, but I know we will have fun. #1 on the agenda of things to do is watch movies and eat popcorn. I think behavior will be a very minor issue.

PHOENIX & LUNCH

Sitting at this computer, posting and reading other blogs, and checking the data on one of my credit cards is not eating lunch or buying Phoenix real estate.

My DD has invited me over to her house for lunch, but I have waited too long to go, so I will probably have a BBQ sandwich from the BBQ I made yesterday. I made it to serve the grandchildren one day when they are here, since their visit is about 3 weeks away, I froze most it.

BLOG YOUR BLESSING 10-21-2007

My blessing always is my extended family. I never see any of them, that they do not make me feel special and that they are pleased to see me. I saw a second cousin, I had not seen in a couple of years, while shopping and we probably stood in the store and talked for 30 minutes or longer. Families seem to be so busy now that there is not time for visiting. I remember as a small child, that my parents would visit my aunts and uncles and their cousins. It was always a special treat for me. If the relatives lived away, we would get up early to go visit, stay about 6 hours, and then return home. Of course, everyone has family and some of the family are really family and some are just relatives.

BLOG TALKERS #43

What was the last thing you cried about? Laughed about? Got angry about?

The last thing I cried about was my cousin.  As I was writing the post about her last night and remembering her, I shed my tears for her.  More of the memories I did not put in the post than what I did.  The post only barely touches the surface.

I last laughed about my 3 1/2 year old granddaughter.  Nothing in particular.  If you have ever been around a child this age for long, you know they can be very funny at times.

The last time I was angry, it was a family matter and that doesn’t need to be on the WWW, so the next to last time that I got angry was at work.  It is sad that grow-ups, I mean people that are parents of teen-agers, are too lazy to do a job like it should be done.  The lay-a-way storage area at work is a disaster and will only get worse because some of the people do not put packages in the correct place or else have them stacked so close together that one item is hiding the number on another item.  EX:  we have a specific place upstairs for comforters to be stored, where have some of the workers put them?  In the bulk areas downstairs!!  Doesn’t bulk mean large or boxed items.  Another thing boxes are packed so full that they cannot completely close, so how does one stack another box on top of it.  Oh, I could go on and on about this because I know I will probably be the one working in law-a-way when the rush for package pick-up is done.
