COOKING

Saturday, October 6th, 2007

As mentioned, I was up way too late last night and it seems that I will be tonight also.  I am preparing food for a family reunion that I have been anticipating since the good-byes were said at the end of last year’s reunion.  I have had boston butts in the crock pots since about 1:30 today.  I will make BBQ pork from those.  I also have half of a fresh picnic which I will put in the oven shortly and cook on low heat (300) until about 9:30 in the morning.

A pineapple cake is baking now.  I sure hope it turns out ok.  The recipe said add 1 1/3 cups of water, I only added 1/3 and added a 20 ounce can of crushed pineapple, undrained.  The timer just went off for the cake to be done.  BRB  The cake is a golden brown and looks delicious, I only hope it is.  Do you think maybe I should test it before I take it to be eaten by extended family???

Need to get up and get the other meat ready to go in the oven.

NEW PATTERN

Saturday, October 6th, 2007

I am experimenting with a new crochet pattern. It is the “Corn Cob” pattern. I am only doing a test swatch, I think I am really going to like the way it looks. I was testing for a boy but it may look too girlish when I get a few more rows worked. If it does, I’ll just swatch another pattern until I find one I like. If anyone has done this pattern, let me know your thoughts–boy or girl.

For those of you wondering, no, I have not finished the blanket I have worked on forever, but almost. That baby will be 2 sometime this month.

FINISHED YET?

Saturday, October 6th, 2007

A resounding “NO”.  I still have lots to do before I can call this day finished.  I have to go to the grocery store to pick up a few items, either bake a cake or bake a fresh picnic, maybe both, and get the pics made for my cousins while out.  DD is planning to go with me.

What I really would like to do is Take   A    Nap  !!!!!!!  Maybe later.

HOME DECOR

Saturday, October 6th, 2007

I would like to have the expertise to do my own decorating, I don’t, so I just put things where I think they look best. On one wall in my dining room I have a mirror and 2 matching wall sconces.  I have placed the sconces on only one side of the mirror and have them staggered in height with the mirror being a few inches higher than the first sconce and the second is a few inches below the first.  I think it looks nice, however others may not.  These have been up for years.

At the time I purchased the wall sconces for the dining room, I also purchased metal filigree ones for the bedroom and they are still in the box.  Maybe one day before I die, I can get those put up.  They are gold tone and I want them on the wall on each side of the bed.  They will match the headboard.

AIRLINE CREDIT CARDS

Saturday, October 6th, 2007

Several years ago I had airline credit cards, but I no longer need them as the only reason I traveled has moved back home. I used the credit miles earned a couple of times for free air travel. There are many cards available for those who travel frequently or are just smart travelers. Those who travel frequently can save even more by using the card to book hotels, rent cars and other ticket items by getting a discount.

CardFusion.com monitors the credit card market showing only the best cards on their site. The choices of cards change regularly and they have more than 100 different cards at any given time. The site is easy to use, so if you are in the market for an airline credit card, visit them, shop for the card that best suits your needs. Remember “low interest is best” if not paying the entire balance due each month.

ER AGAIN

Saturday, October 6th, 2007

Another long night in the emergency room. This time it was with Diva. We left home about 6 and got home after 1. However we did get within 3 miles of home and went back to the ER. Diva had been having stomach pain since Tuesday, told her mom on Thursday night and decided last night she needed to see a doctor. The first doctor said she was fine but bring her back if she could not eat or threw up. We had stopped at the local Subway for food and Diva ate only a couple of bites and then said she was really close to throwing up——so back to the hospital we go. This time we saw a different doctor and he listened to her chest and then to her stomach and squeezed her stomach.(The first doc only squeezed her stomach). Doc #2 said she was having gastroenterology problems, but would be fine.

I am too old to function on less than 6 hours of sleep, but will gladly do it any time the little ones need me. It is her turn to spend one on one time with me and said several times she wanted to stay the rest of the night. Last night just was not a good time because of everything that I need to do today.
