INVITATION

DD invited me to her church’s monthly social.  This church has been in existence about 11 months and they are really growing.  When everything unfolds, I will have a story to tell!

Anyway they had hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, 3 or 4 pasta salads, baked beans, ice cream and other desserts.  The food was good and the fellowship was better.  A very few of the people I know, but I did not feel out of place and none acted as if I was barging in on their territory.  In fact, one of the ladies I met today, not knowing that I had a church home, invited me to attend church with them.

COVER MY BOAT

I sure did not realize what the title of this post was implying when I first read it. I was thinking about my friends at the lake, wondering if they have a cover for their boat to protect it during the winter months when it is not used. During the summer months, it is used almost every day so a cover is not as important then. I am sure that they do have a cover for their boat even tho I have never seen it.

Imagine my surprise after searching further, I found that the phrase “Cover My Boat” is referring to marine insurance coverage. I know that my friends have insurance on their boat as they are responsible people. It does not matter what type boat one has, it may be a dinghy, a motor boat that is used for fishing, skiing, or just riding about on the lake, or even a yacht, insurance can be obtained and be underwritten by Lloyd’s of London. SPOOKED

I have mentioned that DH is working nights.  Usually, I am not afraid to stay by myself, but last night was different.  As I was leaving to take the older girls home after he went to work, I thought I had cut off the TV.  When I returned home about midnight from the shopping trips and so forth and unlocked the door and came in, the TV was on!!!!

I fix the lock on the front door so that it will lock when I close it, go around to the back door, unlock it and come in that way.  Why??  Because I can turn a light on easier that way, rather than walking thru a room to turn on a light one is just inside the back door.  I then call DD, and have her ask the girls if I turned off the TV, one says yes and the other says no.  I have DD stay on the phone with me while I check each room in the house.  Well, I am so up tight by the fright of the TV being on, that it is 2 AM before I ever go to bed and then get up about 7:45.  I am a little sleepy so bedtime is not far away.

FOOTBALL-POP WARNER

I have yet to watch a game of the oldest of the three grandsons that are playing football, neither have I watched the girls cheer. They play maybe 20 miles away but travel time is about 30 to 45 minutes. IF he were playing Tennessee football, I would probably never get to see him play. I should just plan to spend the day at the ballpark one Saturday and watch all of them play and the girls cheer and then it would be behind me. Now don’t get me wrong, I like to spend time with them, and want to support them, but sometimes my schedule is just not tolerable of this happening.

BLOG YOUR BLESSING 9-30-07

My blessing last week and this week are the same. I met my brother at the nursing facility and after he finished feeding Mother, we went to a local seafood restaurant and ate. It seems that I very rarely see him since Mother went in the facility. We talked a little about this and a little about that, probably nothing that would interest anyone else.

I really miss seeing him, but sometimes our schedules just do not coincide.  He is busy and I am busy, so it is a little difficult for us to visit.

OCCUPATIONS

Various jobs are held by people in my family, most of which may be a help to me in one form or another. As mentioned before my brother is an insurance agent, his wife works for a TV station, my husband’s sister is a real estate agent, two of my nieces are in the medical field, a nephew is a tour guide in a very historic southern city, another nephew is manager at a Subway, (I do like a Subway Club), My daughter is self taught about computer software and her husband is a computer hardware tech and the other daughter is a hairdresser. A relative can help me in many situations that may arise.

SHOPPING 9-29-07

I must really like to shop. You would think 1 trip to Walmart in a day would be enough. Yesterday I made 3 shopping trips to said store. What did I forget and need to return to get? Nothing. My first trip, I picked up items DH needed as he is working night shift and it is inconvenient for him to go. Trip 2: DD and I went to purchase a piggy bank to put donations received at the Alzheimer’s Memory Walk that will be held on Oct.13 from 1-3 right here in Bittyburg behind the Leland Town Hall on the biker’s route. We did not find a piggy bank at Walmart, but 262 dollars on clothes for the baby girls and a pair of sweatpants for each of the boys and a sweat suit. The older girls also got a couple of items of clothing. Trip 3: exchanging clothes for the little girls that were the wrong sizes. The clothes were really cute and we were afraid if we waited until another time, the sizes we needed may be gone.

AUSTRALIA

I would enjoy going to a zoo in Australia to see all of the animals that are native there. I think the kangaroo is such a unique animal. I would love to see a new born joey and see others at different ages until they left their mom’s pouch. I could stay in any of several Perth Hotels which are advertised to be very nice and very affordable.

I could chose to stay in Adelaide Hotels and enjoy the many festivals , shopping and sports events that Adelaide has to offer. South Australia’s capital has the perfect venue for all kinds of activity. I would definitely need to participate in retail therapy at Rundle Mall. I know that a special treat of visiting Adelaide would be going to the Adelaide Central Market and sampling the variety of tastes they offer.

After visiting the smaller cities mentioned above, I could then venture on to an overnight stay in a Sydney Accommodation comparing the adventures of small city to large city and also the differences of the hotels in which I chose to stay.

WASTED

My first line of thought was that I had wasted gas and time, but I really only just wasted gas.  I took Country and Diva across the river to have their cheer-leading pictures made only to find out when we got to the appointed place, the photographer was not coming.  Definitely wasted gas but not wasted time.  They came on home with me and stayed until I took them home about 5:30.  I enjoyed being with them and they seemed to enjoy being with me.
