Back in the early 80′s, I was working 50 to 60 hours a week. When it was time to prepare vegetables for the freezer, we decided (Mother and myself) that instead of just blanching the veggies, we would cook them done. Doing this would save me a lot of time when I came in from work and prepared supper. Instead of having to cook the veggies, all I had to do was take them from the freezer, place in a pot, add the desired seasoning, let boil for about 5 minutes and they were ready to eat. This worked so well, it has been our standard practice for freezing veggies.

Those of you who garden for freezing veggies, try this method. It is much easier than blanching and then fast cooling. We often times would just let the beans and peas cool with no additional help. We always did quick cool the corn to prevent it from over cooking.

The BED

DH decided that the couch was just not gonna work, so he has gone to bed. This is what he should have done when we came home. Sometimes one just has to learn on their own what is best. He says he is in a little pain but not enough to take a Tylenol. Again, I say sometimes one just has to learn on their own what is best.

He wanted coffee when we came home so I made a pot (it will not go to waste) but he says it was just not good. I am assuming that is the result of being put to sleep.

I need to get busy!!

HOME

We are home and all went well. The Doctor said he removed tissue for a couple of biopsies, but he really was not concerned. DH is now pretending to watch TV, but he is really dozing as he is still somewhat sedated. He has done a few funny things and can’t remember what he has said. No driving for him today per instructions when we left the office.

I need to get a little busy.

AM I AWAKE

Yes, but I sure do not want to be. I knew I would be so sleepy when the clock chimed. Now is when I could really do some good sleeping. Surprise to me, I only woke one time during the night. DH’s clock woke me and then I woke just before my clock chimed, but I am not including those times as it was almost time to get up anyway. Maybe when we get home I can get a nap.

NOT SMART

That is I am not using my brain power. I have to get up about 6 AM so that DH can be at his appointment by 8 AM and I am sitting here like I can sleep until noon tomorrow. I am sleepy, but feel fidgety. I do this on occasions when I know I have to get up earlier than usual. I know if I go to bed I will wake all during the night (what is left of it) therefore not getting good rest. Oh well, it is past time that I go to bed.

STRONG/DEFINED

Do you know anyone into body building? My husband did some bodybuilding until about 2 years ago when his work schedule became so hectic that he just could not fit in his exercise program. He did not build until his muscles had the ripple and bulging effect. He got the look we both liked and then did enough exercise to maintain his appearance. MOTHER 8-30-07

Mother really is not doing well.  She is barely eating.  Tonight she ate 3 half spoons of cream potatoes and a Hunt’s Lemon Pie snack except for 1 spoon full, drank her coffee and her tea.  My brother says that is more than she ate at the meals he was with her during the week end.  The staff is telling me she rarely eats breakfast (her favorite meal)  but she will take her medicine and drink the type of Ensure they use.

She does not look as if she has lost weight, but eating no more than she does, it seems that she would have.  I guess she may be swollen.
