PLANNING AHEAD

Our Diner may not be fanciest place to eat, but the cook there tries to stay on top of the meal planning and not get caught short too often.  As I am sitting here typing, she has tomorrow nights supper cooking.  It will be a favorite of the DH’s.  You guessed it - small dry limas served with rice and hot sausage.  If she really wanted to do things right, she would make a pan of biscuits, yes, from scratch.  It has been a long time since that happened and it probably will not happen tomorrow night either.

TRANSFER

Once again I will go over the advantages of doing a credit card balance transfer. I strongly urge you to search for a credit card that offers 0% balance transfers. If you can’t find a card that offers 0% (I am sure one is available for short term), then compare credit cards until you find the lowest rate possible before doing a balance transfer. From experience, I can tell you if you are in over your head in credit card debt the best way out is quit using your credit cards and transfer high interest rate to a card with low interest rate.

I still have not mentioned the advantages, have I? They are common sense really, one saves money with lower interest and gets out of debt sooner. Always, always pay more than your bill states is due for that month’s billing period. If you can’t pay anymore just round up to the next $10. 00 increment If your bill states 123.47 is due then pay 130.47, I know this does not seem like much and you do not think it will make much difference, but over time that too will help lower the amount of interest you are paying. Another thing, try to arrange your budget so that you can pay the bill as soon as it comes in, by doing this you are lowering the average daily balance which is another way to reduce the amount of interest paid.

The COOK

The cook at Our Diner almost got fired last night! DH came in after a hard day at work and supper was not even started. She had planned to prepare baked pork chops but even after being in the fridge all day, they were still too frozen to separate. When he came in, the cook offered rice and tomatoes or something from down the street. He did not sound too happy when he said I’ll just fix me some grits and corned beef hash. He was really ok with the fact that nothing had been prepared, cook usually does not let this happen. Tonight he had the baked pork chops with rice and red ripper peas that cook had put in the freezer last October.
