BETTER

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

DH told the cook that supper was much better than what he had planned to have. The cook did not prepare the macaroni & cheese, but the meal at Our Diner was still quite tasty. The stew cooked like a roast was tender and the gravy quite thick, and the peas cooked until that had a redish-brown tint. Yummy!!

DH had planned to have grits and corn beef hash. DD would you have liked to join your dad for his planned supper?

WOODEN WINDOW BLINDS

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

I have only had blinds at a few of my windows for maybe 12 years. I did not think that I liked them, but DH kept mentioning that he liked them so finally we got them for the living room and dining room and guess what folks–I like them.

Blinds2go is having a fantastic sale and are offering savings of 50% to 70% from the regular price of their wooden blinds. What better way to put blinds at all my windows than with cheap wood blinds, that I can get in either a light colored wood or dark colored wood or even an in between shade. DH is wanting to redo our floors in wood finish so the wood blinds would certainly be a compliment to them if chosen in the right color. I could add character and style to any room in my home by adding wooden blinds with their timeless beauty. The decor does not have to be country, wooden blinds are now used in traditional or contemporary homes.

Blinds2go is located in the UK and is the leading and longest established internet retailer of blinds. They offer blinds ready made and offer to make blinds that will fit your measured windows. Prices are great with fast, free delivery within the UK.

ROAST or STEW UPDATE

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

OOPS! had to make a change in the menu at Our Diner. The cook went to the freezer to get the okra and could not find any, so instead it will definitely be peas and macaroni and cheese. I did not think that we had eaten all that the cook froze last year, but I guess we have. No need to worry, it will soon be time to freeze more, especially with the nice rain showers we have had the past week.

ROAST or STEW

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

Supper tonight at Our Diner will be stew beef browned and put back in a thick gravy to simmer about 2 hours, served with rice, okra, and either peas, macaroni & cheese or string beans. If the cook really wanted to please the DH, she would make cream pototoes, but the way her head is pounding, she does not want to hear the mixer . I know that is too many carbs for one meal, but for whom do you cook to please? This cook tries to please the DH who will have worked outside in the heat all day.

KNOCKING

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

I really do not like for anyone to knock on my door when DH is not home. I always look thru the peep hole before I open the door. If I do not know the person or the company they are representing, ‘no one is home’. Call me chicken but that is just the way I am. I have heard of too many times an unsuspecting woman opens the door to a stranger and she is either raped or raped and killed.

What brought on this post? The guy from the cable company just knocked on the door and I did not answer. As he was walking away, I peeked out the window and saw him go to the supply box, so I walked out to see what he wanted.

ALLERGIES

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

can be life threatening!! Yesterday the pharmacy tech ate a few potato chips and a few mixed nuts. Shortly thereafter her hands began to itch and swell, her eyes became red, then her tongue and lips started swelling. I asked about her breathing and if her throat felt tight, she replied they were fine. She started out for our lunch and the pharmacist asked if she really felt like going, she replied, sure. She came back with lunch in about 20 minutes, told the pharmacist that she was going to the doctor her throat was closing. When her hands started itching and swelling, she took a benadryl.

If for any reason you show signs of an allergic reaction to anything, watch it closely and be very careful. If you think you need medical attention, do not put it off.

AXED

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

One never knows if their job is secure. The district manager had been with the company 31 years and was axed yesterday. After which, a small meeting was called for all available employees and we were told: “If you are told to do something, do it. You never know if the task instruction is coming from the local store or farther up the chain of command.”

I did not find this guy to be a helper, only a teller. Our store manager was a helper.

CAPELLA UNIVERSITY

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

The success one may have as a graduate of Capella, is no less than an accredited university that one attends in person. Below is a short story about Tammy Alexander a student of Capella University.

Tammy is a Master’s degree online student with an emphasis on enrollment management from Capella. Recently, Tammy received the FBI Director’s Community Leadership Award. The FBI began giving this waward in 1990, the ward is only given to 56 people per year representing each of the FBI field offices.

Tammy is now the director for information assurance and cyber security training at a Technology College in Knoxville, Tenn. This position makes Tammy a very busy lady as she is responsible for developing and conducting cyber security awareness workshops and lectures for the public, academia and law enforcement.

If you want a higher education and can’t take the time to attend on campus, why not get that wanted degree from studying online at Capella University, 1-888-CAPELLA (1-88-227-3552).
