WORK 6-30-07

Lay-a-way was really busy today. I went in at 10 and it was 12:45 before I could even get a break, 4:30 before I could go to lunch and I did not even take an afternoon break. My back is still acting crazy. As long as I do not bend over it seems to be ok, but tell me please how can one work independently and not bend over if the job sometimes requires it. Tomorrow, I am scheduled 2-7 in the same department.

Next week I will be working in the pharmacy 9-5 with Wednesday off and Saturday off. That will not go well with mu back either because there is a lot of bending and stretching to be done there.

My brother called and told me the a/c at Mothers was not operating correctly. The outside unit is running but no cool air is coming thru the inside vents. I sure hope the repair cost is minimal. He really needs the a/c because on week-ends he goes home during the summer (almost every one), if the yard needs mowing he does it. It would be a shame for him to work so hard and then not have a/c. The unit is only about 4 years old. I surely hope his body is not like mine in the sense that if I get hot my hands and feet swell until they are uncomfortable.

Thankfully, there are still a couple of floor fans there so maybe he can get a little rest tonight.

Our Diner was closed tonight as is usually the case on Friday night’s if DH is not working. The diner is either closed or he grills. Tonight we went across the river and ate at one of the 3 restaurants that we frequent. I feel so stuffed. I don’t think that I eat more when we go out but the variety of foods make me feel that I have eaten too much and sometimes I even feel nauseous. Nothing beats good homemade gravy and rice as long as the rice is not some of that instant cook mess. Next time we go there, I think I will just eat 3 or 4 different foods and see if that makes a difference in how I feel.

This is a day to go down in history!! My niece went to see Mother today for the first time in over 15 months. Wonders never cease. What is so odd about this visit is that Mother’s condition really has not changed much in the past 4 months or so and she decides to visit. Last November when Mother changed drastically for the worse almost overnight, she was notified but didn’t go see her then.

Now on to another subject that makes me wonder how some people sleep at night. If it is your job to take care of those that can’t take care of themselves and you do a sorry job of it, how in the world do you live with yourself. I just do not understand being in that profession, if you are not going to treat those people like you would want to be treated. As I have stated before, Mother is completely helpless. Today I find that her t-shirt has not been snapped, her gown is incorrectly snapped, and her teeth have not been brushed. While I ranting, let me add that her diapers should not be left in public view for anyone who walks down the hall to see them on her bedside table. Would the aid want her underwear left out so that anyone could see them?? Maybe she, the aid, doesn’t care, but I am a somewhat private person and my undergarments should not be on public display and Mother wouldn’t either! While it is a known fact that a lot of the residents in the facility do wear diapers, it still should not be visibly broadcast.

Mother was resting but not comfortably, I asked the aid to come change her and she did. Before I left Mother seemed to be ready for a real nap.

Is wrong this time??  I feel so tired and weak.  Even my legs feel weak.  My voice is squeaky again.  I thought maybe it was because of the stress I endured Monday, but it has improved very little and I still choke almost all of the time.  I did work my 4 hours today.

Plus not feeling well, I feel guilty for not going to check on Mother.

My work schedule stinks.  I have to work Sunday 2-7.  I think I have had one full week-end off since sometime in April.  When I feel like looking at my schedule calendar, I will verify that.  I know that I have to work Saturday, maybe Sunday’s schedule will change.  The district manager had the  schedule for next week today, he may change it.

Is your refrigerator old, working hard and the motor or compressor on its last leg?? Most people now do their shopping on line to find what consumer reports say is the best brand to buy. If you are in the market for a new refrigerator, try looking at Maytag refrigerators.

Krillion Localization Engine, started in February of 2007, searches the web to find, present and integrate major appliance information in over 40,000 US cities. Krillion will find exactly what you are looking for in major appliances, with enough information that you can make an informed decision as to where to shop for the item. After searching with Krillion, all you have to do is get in your car, go to the local store, buy your product, and set up delivery.

No need to spend hours on the internet shopping different brands or driving from dealer to dealer, Krillion has already done this for you.

When looking at the list and considering what went wrong, I accomplished more than I thought. I also spent some time at Our Diner.

  • Finish and fold Mother’s clothes too much soap–had to go thru wash cycle 3 times-really delayed me

  • take them to her and visit for a while–stayed about an hour–she tried to talk a lot tonite-some I could understand some not

  • give the 3 grandsons haircuts–not

  • tidy the living room–did enough that DH noticed, but still need to do more

  • go over banking accounts–posted interest earned in each register (hardly worth the ink)

  • go over credit card bills–not

  • file copies I have made of email correspondence with those that I do paid blogging (my home business)–not

  • do some paid blogging–of course!!

I mentioned in Part 1 that I have 3 regular visitors that I do not know who they are. I found out that the one from Rocky Point, NC is a lady with whom I work.

I still have no clue as to who is from ND or Charlotte, NC

Since that posting, I have had many visitors. WELCOME one and all. I go to my stats several times a day just to see who has been visiting.

That is usually how I spend my days at home. I set myself an agenda of things I need or want to get accomplished and what happens, I get off track. Instead of doing or trying to do what was on my list for today, I go to Mother’s room and see what i can list on Craig’s list to give more space in there. I could surely use the extra space. This room is now used to store early purchases of Christmas gifts, hang my work clothes store my yarn. (Probably need to list some of that yarn too.) It is just a catch-all but I want to get it more organized so that when the grandchildren come over they can get to the bed with out needing a guide.

One day, I may be more of a housekeeper than I am now, but for now the house keeps me. Do you think a time management course may help???.
