Here I must use a phrase of DD#1 “I’m blogging that”.
I am not sure if this person would be considered a friend or just an acquaintance. She would do anything to help you, even if it meant putting herself on the back burner for a while.
This is the story and part of it happened while Mother could still carry on a conversation: I’ll call her “Susie”. Susie’s brother died a few months back and I could not make family visitation or the funeral. To let her know that I cared, one day as DD and I were going to see Mother, I called her. Well, Susie just talked and talked and talked and talked–I could only say really, yes, or very very short sentences. DD was almost laughing out loud and she does not know this woman. Susie asked about Mother and I did manage to tell her she was in a nursing facility and that was about all. Susie said tell your mother I am going to see her.
Get ready!! When I told Mother Susie said she was going to see her, Mother said, “When she walks thru the door, I’ll just shut my mouth ’cause she’ll do all the talking”. DD and I had discussed how much Susie talked, well DD ’bout split her sides laughing.
A few days ago, Susie did go see Mother but Mother was asleep. I have a spiral bound hardback book in Mother’s room so her visitors can sign it. Susie not only signed the book, but wrote a note which included the time of her visit. DD said, “Susie really must like to talk , she couldn’t just sign her name like everybody else, she had to leave a note!”.
Readers, I am not being cruel or making fun of Susie. Mother and Daddy and she and her husband would occasionally visit back and forth, I always was glad to see them and going to their house was always special and enjoyable. This probably would not even have been funny had it not been a way to relieve some stress.
