What a Busy Day

Wednesday pm Sept 6 2006
My report of happennings on Tuesday:

p>I can’t even remember what time I rolled out of bed. Came in the kitchen, put on my coffee (yes!) went to the washroom let out the dog and feed him. This is my normal morning routine.

I got dressed, put a roast in the crock pot for supper. Called DD#1 to tell DGD#1 to get up and get ready to go for her driving license. Get to DD house and of course we discuss yarn, spend a little time w/the other grandchildren.

1) We leave about 11:00 heading for a friend’s house about 20 miles away who has made copies of pear jelly, jam and preserve recipes for me. 2) Go by Wal-mart for me to get jars, sure-jell and jello. 3) Swing by doctor’s office to get some sample meds for DH. 4)Start to DMV, I decide I need small amount of food, so we go thru Hardee’s and then to the DMV. 5) forgot lemon juice at Wal-mart, so stop at Piggly-Wiggly for that. 6) get back to DD#1′s about 4 pm. 7) She gets ready and we go visit my mom for a very few minutes. Mother is not talking unless she is asked a question and then she replys “I don’t remember”. We woke her up. Get back to my house about 6, quickly put on the rice and warmed some fresh veggies. 9) After eating, clean the kitchen and start this, but a very bad storm came , so I put it on hold until today.

From all the going and going and going (I am not the enerzier bunny) I went to bed about 9pm.

Veggie Update & Other Home Stuff

Monday 1:30pm

The 2 bushels of colored butter beans turned out to be 53 1/2 cups. That is very good.

I need to clean my mom’s room and re-arrange it. She wanted her bed on one wall, if I put it on another one the room will have more space or at least look like it does. I need DD#1 to help me, as she has an eye for how furniture should be placed in order to have the most floor space. I will start w/out her today and get her help later in the week if she is not too busy.

Not getting anything done sitting here at the computer.

Anniversary

Monday am

Yesterday was our 30th anniversary. We did nothing that some would call special, however, it was special to me that we could spend the day together.

DH has asked me several times what I wanted but I can think of nothing right now. There are a few things that I want but one doesn’t seem more desirable than the other.

We went to see my mom, his mom and then went into the city to eat. Again, nothing special, Cracker Barrel. I really like their grilled pork chop.

Anniversary

Monday am

Yesterday was our 30th anniversary. We did nothing that some would call special, however, it was special to me that we could spend the day together.

DH has asked me several times what I wanted but I can think of nothing right now. There are a few things that I want but one doesn’t seem more desirable than the other.

More Veggies

Saturday-11pm

On the way into the big city for supper, DH went by the local farmer’s market and finally they had colored butter beans that looked good. We got 2 bushels already shelled. The second bushel is now cooking. I will leave them on the stove overnight.

No, the peas did not get bagged. They did not get cool enough, so they are in the fridge wating until tomorrow.

I think I am through w/veggies for the year unless I do some more okra. I have to re-arrange my freezer before I do anything else.
I asked DD#1 if I could put stuff in her freezer for a little while.

Before I started my blog, I prepared 2 bushels of corn.

When I prepare veggies for the freezer, I cook them until they are done. This helps when preparing a meal because all I have to do with them is bring to a boil and season and they are ready to eat.

Tired Again

After working my scheduled 4 hours yesterday, DH and I rode to the farmers market, found no unshelled peas. We then rode almost to the SC line and found unshelled peas. I wanted unshelled peas so that I could have snaps in them.

We then went on to Tanger Outlet, did a little shopping and ate at Preston’s. Finally got home about 7:30pm.

I called DD#1 and asked if she would help me shell the peas. She and DGD#1 came over about 8. We shelled until midnight. We apparently are slow shellers for it to take us 4 hours to shell a bushel of peas. Today I have washed and cooked the peas and am now waiting for them to cool so that I can bag them. Had 9 quarts before they cooked.

Talked with my brother today, and he said Mother is doing as usual. Also, he took me some pears and left them in her room.

I normally do not do this anymore, but I think a nap would be good about now.

Nothing

Worked 4hrs and 45 mins.

Went to see my mom.

DH had our supper done when I got home.
